List of John Simon's Reviews
Would rather give a negative 1. My husband was in the hospital for 9 days, only saw Dr Simon for 30 seconds, one day, never examined him, yet he was charting he was spending 30 minutes with my husband. He erroneously diagnosed my husband with DTs, treated him for that which caused severe hallucinations. He ordered gabapentin when I had specifically told his nurses it caused hallucinations. If he would have spoke to me or my husband, that drug never would have been ordered. I wouldn’t let Dr Simon treat my dog much less someone I cared about. If we ever have to go back to LAKEVIEW, I will not allow him anywhere near my husband, including his PAs. Most horrible doctor, I use that term lightly, I’v ever had to deal with. Thank God my husband survived his ordeal but it had nothing to do with Dr Simons treatment.
Horrible doctor! He shouldn’t be allowed to practice medicine.
This is a difficult review to write. It is important that others have an opportunity to read, and hopefully spare their families the pain ours has endured. Dr. Simon (the title Dr. should be taken from him, because he has failed his oath to help and not harm) doesn't seem to understand the impact his neglect of patients entrusted in his care has when there is a loss of life. We do not know if our loved one would have lived to a full life expectancy, because in the four days he was hospitalized, John Simon was never once seen checking on him, family was never contacted, and to this day has not been provided a diagnosis. We don't know exactly when or why he died. His wife wasn't allowed to spend the night. He was supposed to be released from the hospital the following day, after she was forced to leave for the evening. When she returned the following morning at the beginning of visiting hours, when he was supposed to be going home, she was informed that he had fallen and passed away. They hadn't even bothered to call her. This "doctor" couldn't find the time to even stop by the hospital room to express sympathy to her, as she held the hand of her deceased husband for hours. Seeing all of the reviews about John Simon nauseates me. There should be no more horrible reviews, because he should lose his license to practice! Shame on Lakeview, and shame on John Simon. My Mother will never be the same. Her heart is broken. Dennis McDow clearly didn't matter to them, but he will always be loved and missed by us. He deserved better.
1 star is not even deserving. I’m still devastated over my husbands death, Dennis McDow,III . 4 days in the hospital and I was allowed to be with my husband 6a.m.-6p.m.never saw dr.Simon. He was not available. I asked to speak with him and the night my husband passed I asked to spend the night. They were short staffed. Never been treated in this manner.

No communication with family members even when asked. Erroneous diagnosis, a lot of CYA going on. Wouldn’t let him treat my dog!
Horrible—the worst dr In my 70 yr old lifetime. I would rate him a zero if I could. My husband was in ICU over two weeks with bad Covid (bilateral pnuemonia and a transplant patient) and even after calling dr Simons office everyday, I was NEVER able to get him to speak to me. I couldn’t go into hospital because of Covid so I never learned what dr Simon’s diagnosis or treatment was. He was totally indifferent and shipped my husband to a rehab facility in the night because he’d lost 45 lbs in three weeks and could not walk or even talk sensibly after dr simons “care”. He should not be practicing in any hospital if he refuses to talk to family of a critically debilitated patent. How is he still on staff?
I would not recommend this doctor. Very poor care and concern for the patient and family.
John Simon is an ego driven negligent doctor who cares more about his pocketbook than his patients. How he is the head of the Hospitalists at Lakeview is beyond comprehension. My mother was in Lakeview over a span of 4 months, and we never laid eyes on this 'doctor'. In fact, he had the NPs do his dirty work except when he wanted to know our plans for where our mother would go when she was discharged (which she was not ready to be discharged and we appealed it four times through Medicare). Not only is he an absent 'doctor' but he is negligent in learning about the patient and how to actually help them instead of neglecting them into early death. My mother was put on a feeding tube because she was having trouble swallowing, a regular thing for her. Instead of the staff taking time to help her eat, he inserted a NGT tube down her throat TWICE. Now why would you put a tube down someone's throat that couldn't swallow. When that didn't work, obviously, a stomach tube was put in and she was only being given 20ml per hour and NO fluids. That is right around 2/3 oz. Who can live on that and no fluids? Basically, he starved her to death and put her into early organ failure and death. DO NOT TRUST YOUR LOVED ONES TO THIS HOSPITAL AS LONG AS HE IS EMPLOYED THERE. I will post on every site and get the word out to my community (I have a ton of contacts) until something is done to remove this 'doctor'. He needs to have his license revoked, fined handsomely and put in jail.
I would NOT recommend Dr Simon. He was terrible. I have worked with hundreds of doctors over my career and he is one of the worst I have seen.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
