My wife is a diabetic of fifty-four years--Type 1, Insulin dependent, brittle. In our forty-two years together, Dr. Julie Talavera has clearly been her best endocrinologist. She's friendly, knowledgable, thorough and can speak plainly. I am completely comfortable with Dr. Talavera's care of my wife.

Appointments are frequently rushed and it is clear it is like a “fast food” doctor visit without the true needs being met or discussed.

Untrustworthy. Quotes one price, bills at multiple times higher. Says they are resolving it while sending late notices for the wrong amount. It’s not that hard. Quote services, perform services as quoted, bill for services as quoted. Not sure if it is incompetence or a con.

The worst experience and I haven't met the Dr. The office staff is rude, inconsiderate and definitely not willing to work with anyone. It's amazing that the clinic has patients. Would NOT recommend.

I first came to Dr. Talavera for my pre-diabetes AIC number. I also gave her my T-score number from my latest bone density scan from my family doctor. She listened, interviewed me and looked at my numbers and determined that my T-score is what needs to be concerned about because my AIC number is below the threshold. Now, she's treating my osteoporosis with great care by doing several tests before she recommends the right medicine. I love the way she listens to her patients and not give you the one-fits-all treatment.

I was seeing another endocrinologist for years who only checked levels to assess my thyroid issues. Dr. Talavera tried a different test and determined I had hyperthyroidism (no telling how long). She very thorough and I’ve come to trust her opinion. Feel so thankful she was recommended to me!

Diagnosis of thyroid cancer with thyroidectomy - Dr Talavera never followed up after the surgery. We had to pursue her for an appointment, which took weeks. Our office visit quickly revealed that Dr Talavera has no concern for her patients, or their feedback. She talked to herself during our office visit (saying, "Does that make sense" repeatedly). When you say, "no", you realize she wasn't asking you that question. She was asking herself. Radiation treatment scheduled and completed a few months later (with shots at Dr T's office and radiation treatment with a different physician) and again no follow up with Dr Talavera following treatment. Made call after call to office. No ability to leave message at Covington office. We called for days without getting through. When we did get through we had to leave a message regarding making an appointment. It took weeks for them to contact us back. Office staff said sorry that patient fell through the crack. Finally have appointment slated for six months after surgery, four months following radiation. Additionally, the staff gives inaccurate information. Staff argued that we use their preferred lab for blood work even when it was out of network for our benefits. We had to insist that they allow us to use the correct lab for our insurance. Worst experience in every way. Cancer is a scary diagnosis; being referred to Dr Talavera is a close second.

Dr Talavera is a thorough physician. She treated and monitored my condition for about a year then referred me to the best surgeon to perform my thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy.
