Dr. Blessey did my husband’s hip surgery, and six years later the device has failed. He is now redoing his hip surgery with another surgeon. Originally, postop physical therapy and nursing did not arrive for days after surgery, and we were given no preop instructions or equipment. Pain management was nonexistent. Would never use Dr. Blessy again. Using Dr. Ladner this time, and it’s a complete 180.

Dr. Blesseydid my husband‘s hip six years ago, and now he is having to have it redone. We are using a different doctor, and this time the experience is completely different and a complete 180. Postop through Dr. Blessey was terrifying, but this time my husband is soaring with flying colors. We have zero confidence in Dr. Blessey.

Our experience is this guy is a joke. I would not bring my worst enemy (if I had one!) to him. My wife went to him with a BROKEN wrist, and he told her it was just a sprain and "take something for pain." Did he think she was a druggie??! After almost 3 weeks of suffering, she went to another doctor who read the EXACT SAME x-rays, and he SHOWED her the obvious wrist fracture on the x-rays. The new doctor immediately immobilized her wrist and told her not to lift anything heavier than a coffee cup. Following his simple instruction, the pain subsided after 1 day! Literally! Ochsner should be ashamed to have Blessey on their staff. Don't bring anyone you care about to him... My wife suffered for weeks because of this "doctor. " The office is just a conveyor belt for fees, in my opinion. What went well

Ochsner Orthopedics is the best. Not only do I get care, but I receive it from 4 specialists fully dedicated with a streamlined billings system to maximize margins. My child is being treated for a fractured knuckle and we had our 3rd visit today. We arrived pre-registered 15 minutes prior to our appointment as required. After checking in at the Kiosk, birthdays were re-verified despite my on-line booking and QRC code which were not used. We were then directed upstairs where we lounged about for 20 minutes past our appointment time (35 minutes in total). We were then whisked to a windowless room and told to wait. Specialist 1 came and removed his cast (ala You are the Weakest Link "BANK!"). My child went to the rest room to wash his stinky hand that had been in a cast the last two weeks. Specialist 2 came to take an X-Ray ("BANK!"). Upon his return, Specialist 1 popped in and did some computer stuff to pull up X-Rays ("BANK!"). Our PA examined the healing bone and good news, we are on plan and able to switch to removable brace. ("BANK!"). After some advice and therapy instructions (basically make a gentle fist to stretch the knuckles twice a day for 4 sets of 20 fist stretches), we were sent specialist 4 for fitting of the brace. I was politely challenged on my insurance again and told that 80% of the brace would be covered by my insurance (top of the line CIGNA) and 20% was for me. I smartly checked Amazon after glancing at the box and found that I could purchase and deliver tomorrow for under $27 USD. I was informed that the cost would be $30 USD. I asked if that was the full amount and if I only had to pay $6 USD. I was informed that the $30 USD was my 20% co-pay. I then used this exercise with my teen to test his math. X*20% = 30 (solve for X). He got the answer right at $150 USD. Specialist 4 asked if I still wanted the brace. I replied, "Of course, I insist to pay full insurance from my pay check to CIGNA then be charged 150 USD for a 27 USD brace and have my co-pay at 30 USD. CIGNA needs to eat too!" She then swiftly took my visa card and charged me 30 USD after fitting the sleeve. A fifth specialist delivered a paper with my next appointment in 2 weeks. The care is amazing. My only suggestion is to consider changing suppliers for these braces to me. I would only charge 75 USD per brace, which would be a 50% savings to Ochsner, CIGNA and future brace buyers.

Have only one thing to say. In my opinion, if you can get an appointment with a doctor as a new patient, the next day at any time, take that as a red flag. Don't let desperation to be seen by a doctor take hold as you will be wasting your time and not get any answers anyway. If a doctor has alot of one star reviews, use that as a sign, and look elsewhere. The good doctors are booked. the bad ones are not. Lesson learned. Just saying..............

Everything was professional and timely; however, I feel that my particular injuries were not addressed well, although all was done in a friendly manner. I had two strains/sprains on my left hand (wrist & finger) that produced excruciating pains...when moved in certain ways. X-rays showed no breaks. Dr. Blessey manipulated my wrist & finger in some ways...but not the painful ways. He would ask, "Does this hurt? No. Does this hurt? No..." etc., then stopped before he got to the painful motions. Then I would say, "But it hurts tremendously this way." The only response was, "Well, injured ligaments take time to heal. Try this brace." The brace prevented movement with motions he tested...but did not prevent the motion that caused the pain. I tried it for several days but it didn't help, so I devised some velcro straps that restricted movement, hence prevents pain & aggravation of the injuries. I feel like he tried...but maybe was pre-occupied or I should've complained more. I suspect I tore some ligaments, although hopefully not severed; I'm still in the same boat I was before going. The wrist has been injured for probably a year...& seems worse. The finger has been over a month now...& has barely improved. I'll have to figure it out myself.
