Amazing and patient doctor! He has some of the most stable hands I have ever seen in my life.
Health Care System Insurance Scams I, Gina Sincere, want to inform everyone about my experience of services at Tulane University Hospital & Clinic of New Orleans, LA. During a routine scheduled procedure, the wrong IOL (Intraocular Lens Implant) prescription was placed in my left eye by Dr. Ramesh S. Ayyala, MD. The Lens was causing severe eye pain. I went back to Dr. Ayyala at Tulane University Hospital to help with the eye pain. It was explained to me, that the Lens was rubbing against the iris in my left eye and this was the source of the eye pain/eye pressure. The plan of treatment was to change and reposition the Lens and make it match the Lens in my right eye. After the procedure, I found that a shunt and balloon device were placed into my left eye in addition to the discussed treatment plan. The shunt and balloon device was causing a more intense eye pain. The pain was more intense than the eye pain I had prior to the corrective procedure. Dr. Ayyala, never discussed placing a shunt and balloon device in my eye during the consent of the plan of treatment. My eye was in so much pain, I asked for the shunt and balloon device to be removed. He removed each device one at a time. This totaled two surgeries that were not necessary. I was still having eye pain and following up with Dr. Ayyala. Dr. Ayyala was prescribing eye medications that were not helpful and stated; no other doctor would see me. He suggested; that I don’t focus on the eye. So, I asked for a second opinion. Dr. Ayyala referred me to Dr. Delmar Caldwell, MD. Dr. Caldwell suggested; that I don’t focus on the eye, as well. Dr. Caldwell gave me the impression he did not really care. This is when I realized that I was a part of an insurance scam. I was lied to on several occasions about the medical treatment that was provided. On a later date, I found that a shunt and balloon device were not necessary treatments for my diagnosis. I wanted another opinion on the treatment I received from Dr. Ayyala. I consulted a team of doctors to reexamine my left eye. The doctors found that Dr. Ayyala poorly placed the second Lens in my left eye and it was cutting the iris. The doctors thought that it was unusual that this condition went unnoticed for two and a half years. I want everyone to be aware of these health care providers that are taking advantage of patients and insurance companies. If you had any procedures done at Tulane University Hospital & Clinic and feel that it wasn’t part of your treatment plan or deemed necessary for your diagnosis, please come forward. Please contact the CEO of Tulane University Hospital & Clinic. These maybe procedures that you should not have been billed for and a reimbursement maybe required in your situation.
Excellent physician, A wealth of knowledge and experience.
A couple of years and numerous specialist after a traumatic injury to my son's eye we were referred to Dr. Caldwell. He was able to explain details about my son's injury and what possibilities the future may hold for treatments better than any of the specialist we had seen. He reassured us that the surgeries my son had had were done well and the best course of treatment at that time. While he wasn't able to provide any different treatment options at that time, we all walked away with a immensely better understanding and can knowledgeably research and keep up with advances that may help in the future.
I experienced multiple Pterygium growths over my eyes. Several Ophthalmologists attempted to remove them. Eventually I was told that I would require a cornea transplant. I flew to see Dr. Caldwell in New Orleans, as I had been treated previously for a different issue, he immediately told me that I DID NOT need a cornea transplant. He used his YAG Laser on my eyes and solved the problem. I have been returning to his care from Dallas for over 30 years and will continue to see him for any eye issues and regular checkups.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
