List of Ochsner Medical Center's Reviews
Got sick on my vacation to NO and thus staff made me feel very comfortable. Thank you.
Blessed to receive a kidney transplant on July 4. Surgeons and transplant nurses were awesome. Received terrific care. Transplant personnel are great from entering the center to the blood work nurses to the post transplant nurses, coordinator, Kelvin Norman, and nephrologist, Dr. Wickman. My only complaint is about their out-sourced hospital food. It needs a lot of help. Frustrating to order from menu and not get any because they were out of it. Most was inedible. Only good item was their chicken salad on a croissant. Cafeteria food isn't much better but at least you can see and pick it.
I had a great experience. The staff was wonderful. The Dr was delayed but that sometimes happens. Katelyn was the nurse I remember helping most. I had a VNS battery replacement.
*UPDATE - after a “thorough” investigation the hospital has decided to make Ana’s, the ER tech, behavior a learning opportunity. No consequences were given. And my damaged property was not repaired or replaced. DO NOT go to this hospital. ELEANOR CARRIO "practices" psychiatry - a monster of a psychiatrist - with this group. Carrio will simply read a question from her laptop and then record your answer while looking at the computer. It's like the computer is guiding her practice because she has none. You’re not safe with the incompetent and mood-driven DR. MCCONVILLE. Check him out online. Very inconsistent. Ana represents the training of the staff and Eleanor Carrio and James McConville represent the medical treatment you’ll receive you are not safe!! Carrio NEVER came to see me. McConville is all about INTIMIDATION. An ER tech, Ana, was completely lacking in compassion and care. I asked her for any identifying information (other than Ana) bc she was absolutely lost in the drama of a very busy ER and really needed support. She laughed and refused to help me in any way. She said I was rude. I was there for "immense trauma" and that's her level of professionalism? She was bopping around the hospital with her bleached-blond ponytail and vibrant shoes passing me and chuckling everytime she passed. What a sad person she is. I really needed help. She also needs additional training, a professional coach, and maybe a shadow to observe her skill level...or lack thereof. Please help Ana with her skill deficits so maybe she can authentically help other people. Get rid of Carrio & McConville.
Main campus hospital nurses doctors awesome had some problems with the emergency room security guards Big egos don’t know the difference between a law and Rules and the triage nurse who couldn’t stop playing with Her cell Phone
My 93 year old mother was admitted to Ochsner Main Campus on 9/18 with heart problems. We arrived at 9:00 am and were taken to a room in the ER. After a couple of hours of tests, she was transferred to an area called Flex, which is a holding area for patients waiting for a room. By then it was close to noon. The nurse at this unit, Cody, was wonderful and attentive, and asked if my Mom would like lunch (Around 1:00 now). We said yes, and he requested a meal for my Mom several times, but was finally told that lunch was no longer being served since it was now 2:30 pm. A sandwich, and I use the term loosely, of bread and 3 slices of processed meat (not sure what it was. Maybe ham?) was brought along with apple juice. We were told that dinner started at 4:30. Cody kept checking for room availability and finally shortly before 7:00 pm he was told that there was a room, we just had to wait for it to be cleaned. Now it is 8:00 pm and no room. I checked with the nurse that had come on when Cody left, and she said that the room showed as clean in her computer but when she called to check, she was told that it was not clean yet. More waiting. Finally, she had to escalate the issue to the Charge Nurse and at about 9:00 pm, she said someone was coming to transfer my Mother. At 9:15 she was taken to her room. We spent a total of over 12 hours at Ochsner. Why? What happened to efficiency and consideration to the patient? Ochsner is a huge institution that has become the prevalent medical presence in several areas of Louisiana. The bigger it gets, the less efficient and more indifferent it becomes. Overreaching, maybe? There is no excuse for shoddy service, especially at a medical institution of this size.
Doctors argues with their Patients. Drs don't care to help you and want to continue treating you. They wouldn't care if you come back or not. I know I will not. I'm not wasting no more money with them. I'll be happy to go somewhere else to doctors that care about treating and wanting to help their patients. Wasted six months 😪 trying to get help.
I brought my son Cameron here after a very unpleasant experience at children’s hospital and had a fabulous visit
I saw Dr Zapata. Very pleased with her bedside manner and explanations.
I absolutely love my ochsner care team! So friendly and genuinely concerned with my health issues. Best health care I have ever had!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
