List of Mark Goodman's Reviews
if I could give him a zero I would. He told my 90-year-old parents that my father needed to go to the emergency room, but did not tell them why. he simply told them that his caregiver should pick him up from the office and take him to the er. I am a physician, and when I called his office to speak with him, he refused to speak with me and his secretary left me on hold for over 30 minutes, after which i called again, and the office was closed. disgusting behavior. he should be ashamed to call himself a doctor. needless to say, this is not the only incident where unprofessional behavior has transpired. there have been other times that have left a bitter taste in my mouth, but this was the last straw. please do not trust this man to do right by you. coming from another physician, i hope this review is helpful to the reader. i would never treat a patient or their family member this way.
As with the majority of the reviews on this, DO NOT GO HERE. Their billing practices are antiquated. There has been no responses to my emails nor calls. I paid my invoice and still received an invoice a month after they received and cashed my check. Such billing practices and behaviors are so unprofessional, I felt compelled to write this review. BEWARE. If for some reason you still want to go to this practice after reading all of these reviews, be sure to get a detailed invoice and document all services and payments.
Incompetent due to the horrifying billing practice. You cannot get any response for months.
I was a patient of Dr. Goodman's from 2011 until 2019. I found him to be very very good. He is very knowledgeable, and IF HE DOES NOT KNOW THE ANSWER HE WILL REACH OUT TO OTHER DOCTORS HE HAS KNOWN FOR YEARS, AND ASK THEM.He is excellent at getting labs done quickly (in-house) and getting the results to you quickly- even at 8:00 PM when he would call and tell me the results of the labs!!!!I would suggest that you read his Bio which I think you will be very impressed with. This doctor keeps up with the field and I always found him to be very involved with me and my wife and my stepson. He knows what he is talking about. He has been awarded the "Best Doctor" award 21 or 22 years in a row I believe. His assistant Keren has worked with him for many years and does an outstanding job of scheduling, getting information from the doctor if you call in, and keeping in touch with you. Regretfully, for me and my family, we have moved more than 50 miles away so it would be very difficult to continue with him. We wish we could still see him as we always felt we were in good hands.
Dr is good but the billing is so off base!! Overcharged me for an annual visit & I look @ my bill they gave me & what my insurance says where 2 different things!! No person to speak to you only an email!! Poor service but decent guy!! Incompetent older staff so it's unfortunate & that's why I had to leave!!
Unfortunately, I've also had a horrible billing experience with Dr. Goodman's office. In 2016 I had my usual annual physical, but did not receive a bill until one year later for ~$650.00. This amount was over 4 times the co-pay amount paid in all prior years with the same PPO insurance. I immediately emailed both the billing office (Henry) and the main office (Karen) asking why the amount was so high? I never received a reply to this email, or to the next 4 emails I sent as each subsequent bill was received. I asked to understand and resolve this bill, but never received anything but another bill with the same amount.Last month Dr. Goodman sent me to collection for almost double the original amount. I have never had a collection notice in my life and this was(is) very stressful to me. I contacted the collection company and was told that they were unable to adjust the amount and that I would need to directly contact the Doctor's office. After 2 additional emails and phone calls, Karen called and informed me that Dr. Goodman would not speak to me and discuss my account. This left me with the options of paying the now inflated amount, or having it reported on my credit. I paid the full amount. Some other reviewers have suggested that Dr. Goodman is a competent physician and that these billing issues should be considered separately. I disagree. The office is controlled by Dr. Goodman and bears his name. He must be aware of these unscrupulous billing practices (and poor reviews) and could have responded to me at any time to resolve this. I placed my health and trust in Dr. Goodman for many years and was ultimately treated in an extremely unprofessional and uncaring manner. Shame on you Dr. Goodman!
I had a physical with Dr. Goodman in June of 2014, shortly after Covered CA started. The bill was $1600, which seemed excessive. Along with many other Californians, I was told erroneously that a doctor was in my network. As it turned out, Dr. Goodman wasn't. I went back and forth with Covered CA and Anthem and got it worked out as that total was removed from my bill shortly thereafter. In August of 2017, I received a call from a collection agency regarding a $2000 balance that I owed Dr. Goodman. The billing contact is Henry Ruiz. The outgoing message states that Henry can only check voice messages and emails once a week. In the year I have been fighting this, Henry has gotten back to me three times, and it takes several emails to him to get a reply. He has never called me, despite my many requests. This bill has now become a derogatory mark on my credit report.Anthem has been super helpful, and can provide evidence that Dr. Goodman's office not only received checks for my physical, but that the checks were also cashed. Legally they can only send certain documents to Henry, but he has to be the one to contact them to request said documents, and he refuses to do his job or is completely incompetent. From the other reviews here, it looks like I'm not the only one dealing with this type of issue, and quite frankly, it sounds like something is definitely off in the billing office. Either Henry's trying to cover his butt after making a huge error or something fishy is going on.Dr. Goodman and Karen are both lovely, but this unprofessional individual in the billing department is a deal-breaker for me. With so many other great doctors' offices in Beverly Hills, don't put yourself through this potential billing agony and go anywhere but here.
I too was not only slapped with a ridiculous, late copay, and attempted to contact Dr. Goodman's billing service. They never responded. I was charged $1300 for a standard physical that should have been mostly covered by insurance, and repeated phone calls and messages to Dr. Goodman's billing office never resulted in a single call back. As a result, I never had the chance to dispute the bill -- and then I was sent a collection notice, demanding double the $1300. Be warned.

I finally settled with the collection agency, and am out $2,000 -- all for a routine physical that should have cost a lot less. And to this day I've never heard back from Dr. Goodman or his billing office. Dr. Goodman's office never even attempted to contact me before sending it to the collection agency. Beware -- I notice that others here have had similar problems. If you're not careful, you'll be scammed as well.
In August of 2015 I had a physical at Dr. Goodman's office. It was an excellent experience. Just today, on July 18, 2018, I received a call from Karen in his office that I am now being billed $700+ as a copay. Almost 3 years later? In the end, you are only as good as the people who work for you. Something isn't right in this office. I will be revisiting this review after I get closure with his office.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
