ITS BEEN DAMN NEAR 4 WEEKS, I called last week he had a family emergency I called this morning to ask to speak to the head doctor she called back and said he wasn’t accepting anymore patients with medicaid and others doctors was full, I waited 3 weeks for this . Don’t have a clue what the status of my baby is

My best friend had a baby on 7/14/21. She went for her check up with Dr Popwell to talk to him about her long history with depression. She and I talked alot before this appointment. I am a therapist, and I made her a referral to see someone (Brandy Walker, LPC who has been nothing short of wonderful to my friend. Got her in ASAP too, and always took her seriously) When she went to see Dr Popwell, he didnt prescribe her anything. Nothing. Not even a referral or discuss other options. She wasnt asking for narcotics, she was asking for help. She killed herself yesterday on 9/27/21. I just want anyone to know that if you are thinking you may need medication for your PPD, dont ask him, keep looking, go to another doctor.

Dr Popwell is very friend and during actual labor and delivery he was fantastic but the prenatal and postnatal care is seriously lacking. His nurses don’t fill prescriptions in a timely manner and will make you wait all weekend before putting in a RX even though you asked for them on a Thursday. They tell you they will call back to address your concerns but never do. They refused to treat extreme postpartum anxiety and depression and then would not offer a referral for someone that could help which ended in being admitted into the ER for suicidal thoughts. I won’t ever recommend them.

He is a compassionate Dr and has always respected my choices during my pregnancies and deliveries.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
