Staff was unprepared and duplicated my file then made me wait for 2 hrs only to be told to “take a bath”? Very unprofessional and no help whatsoever Needs to learn about speaking to women with respect and understand his misogynistic god complex will only get him so far in life.

I am in the medical industry. I have worked with many surgeons in operating rooms all over the country, including many at BIDMC. There are a lot of good surgeons at BIDMC but Dr Cataldo is definitely not one of them. Some of the reviews on Vitals.com are a lot more representative of Dr Cataldo’s skill level, decision making, and bed side manner than the 3 reviews here. Dr Cataldo took care of a family member of mine but they are afraid to leave a review here because they fear some sort of retribution from him. I however feel obligated to leave a review because I am the one that told them they couldn’t go wrong at BIDMC. I have followed this situation very closely, and not only were many poor decisions made by Dr Cataldo but his impatience and dismissiveness of the patients concerns, their history and their goals is likely representative of his behavior in the operating room. Again, I am not a surgeon but I am a caring, skilled medical professional and there is no room in our industry for a surgeon like Dr Cataldo. Maybe once he was a good patient focused surgeon but those days are well behind him. It’s time for BIDMC to move Dr Cataldo out. The lack of care, concern, thoughtfulness, good decision making, and bed side manner should not be tolerated in healthcare.

Dr. Cataldo was excellent. He explained things thoroughly and put me right at ease. I didn’t feel rushed and could ask my many questions. He gave me helpful remedies and never suggested unnecessary surgery. It was quite the opposite, I appreciate a conservative approach to healthcare. An appointment I dreaded and procrastinated on for years turned out to be very positive because of Dr. Cataldo.

Dr Cataldo cared for my daughter when others had given up. His surgical repair has changed her life. He is a compassionate, honest, dedicated healer.

I had surgery on Sep 7th 2018 at BID-Needham. I recovered very fast without any side effects. I was very worried about reoccurring symptoms but still so far, I am very fine and work normally, increased quality of life. Surgery went really fast and my pain management after surgery was really minimal and I barely had no pain after 1 week. The enviroment in Thank you so much.

Informative, to the point, cautious in approach and ultimately in execution, and leading a team of attentive and practiced surgical professionals I hold the Doctor and his team in high regard. The doctor not only performed and excellent bowel resection to remove Stage III cancer with no complications, but was sure to visit me with his team daily to follow-up while I recovered in the hospital This support, technical as well as the personal conversation was just the kind of patient focused excellence that, I believe, one can expect from the Beth Israel experience overall. Super rude doctor, bad communication. You have to press all the time for test results and he is extremely impatient at explaining things. Shows very little sympathy. Not sure about the medical expertise side.
