I do not recommend going here, I did more coloring and listening to music in group therapy and it felt like the only thing they were focusing on was weight gain which is my biggest fear. They treated us like 5 year olds and the only think I felt was force fed
First and foremost I am a 50 year old woman who was treated like I was a child. I attended Walden for 2.5 weeks for a binge eating disorder using there IOP Free To Be program which consists of 3 days and 3 hours of consistent screen (zoom) time for 6 weeks with check in's usually on a Monday or Friday with a nutritionist and counselor. I am already overweight and was looking for mechanisms to put in place to help me control food intake. I understand that this program is not considered a weight loss clinic, but one that helps you discover that you can have a normal relationship with food.... Now with that being said I followed there meal plan exactly and ate on the lower end of the exchanges.. but ... went up in weight . Really???? How does that make sense. I was told because I was having a better relationship with food that going up was not a problem. I was also told by the head nutritionist that "in full disclosure she has never had a weight problem and does not understand what it would be like to walk around in a body like mine" and that she was sorry I had to deal with all the stressors that come with it. If that doesn't add to your already uncontrolled eating disorder I don't know what will. I need counseling from counseling. It was also told to me that eating a candy or other sugar filled treat was not a problem, nor was sugar addictive. If this program helps others then that's wonderful, but my experience was horrible and left me feeling more insecure about myself than I did before I started.
I would not recommend walden to anyone, I went to walden seeking treatment for a binge eating disorder, I have had a gastric sleeve and some times if i eat to much or to fast I end up regurgitating the food i eat, I informed them of this fact before I started the out patient program, they accepted me into. After 3 weeks and after they had charged my insurance them informed me that I could no longer be in the out patient program, i was 3 weeks into a 6 week course. They insisted I must go into another program that was 5 days a week and 7 to 8 hours a day. There is no way I could participate in that program because my schedule just doesn't allow for it so they kicked me out of the 3 day a week 3 hour a day program that they had accepted me into. I came to them seeking medical and psychological help for a binge eating condition and they kicked me out for having a condition that they supposedly treat
This place is terrible and need to get their act together. I could write a lengthy novel regarding the incompetence of Walden and their practices.
Terrible experience! TWICE! At 50 yrs old I tried to get help with my life-long binge eating disorder & was treated like an anorexic teenager. I'm not bulimic, I'm a binge eater. They were watching me after dinner to make sure I didn't puke. WTF? Is anyone here paying attention to our individual needs? Like I said I was 50 years old & did not require the same vigilance or caloric intake as a 16 year old anorexic/bulimic.Unfortunately, I was so desperate & there are no other IOP programs available to me so I gave it another chance hoping that maybe the clinicians at Walden had paid attention to the negative feedback they receive. What a mistake that was! It was worse the second time around. Still I was treated as if I was undereating... HELLLL-LLLLO, I'M A BINGE EATER WHY IS THAT SO DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND??? I was consuming THOUSANDS OF CALORIES & desperate for real help. Their program has a one size fits all mentality and for an EATING DISORDER facility, it BINGE EATERS are shit out of luck!
Went with our 15 yo daughter for an intake evaluation. I wasn't impressed. Impersonal, bare-bones. With about a dozen conveniently located offices state-wide, Walden is what I might have expected from a for-profit, insurance-friendly, mental health treatment company. It's really too bad that families in crisis have to "go shopping" with their anguished children to find highly competent and caring providers--but we do. They don't make parents snootier than I am when it comes to medical care for my loved ones, so trust this: If you live in western Mass, the Baystate Adolescent Eating Disorders Clinic is the only place you want to go. baystatehealth.org/servi…
Walden helped me on my path to recovery from my eating disorder tremendously! I spent 5 weeks in the PHP program and 4 in the adult IOP program. The staff were understanding and the other clients taught me that I was not alone in my struggle.I believe that if you desire getting healthy and you really want to change, this is a great place for you. However, if you come in with a negative attitude you will have a harder time finding your path towards recovery. It's not impossible though, to come in confused and scared and then start to turn things around. It works. It works if you try their coping skills and keep pushing yourself to challenge your eating disorder. Not all skills will work for everyone but trying to find what works for you is part of the process in this battle against an eating disorder. If you need help, get an evaluation and be open to challenge the eating disorder and that will open the door to success! It did for me!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
