Skyrizi treatments went well. when asked to look at a mole person said nothing there. Months later asked her to look at it again. "maybe we should do a biopsy" Guess what.MELANOMA. How am I supposed to process this. trusted her judgement which turned into a giant sink hole. No one is Perfect but almost has sent me down a road that no one wants to experience
TLDR:He did not ask me a single question or provide even one explanation to support his diagnosis. Twenty seconds of consideration, a very generic, repetitive diagnosis, a medical bill, and two very expensive prescriptions. Also super disrespectful to his assistants while I was in the room.Long Explanation:I went to see Doctor Amster for a particular issue. He instead spent most of his time doing a full body scan and removing a mole without ever even asking me if I wanted that. He also didn’t ask me a single question about my primary issue: how long it had been going on, if this was what it normally looked like, what else I had tried, what caused flare ups, if I had ever had other issues… nothing.More than once he called his assistant incompetent and said “I’m gonna kill him” about the kind younger man who took my information before Doc showed up. It made me very uncomfortable. In the end, I had to ask forcefully for any explanations, including what kind of procedure they were about to do on me, and I got minimal response. After he left in a flurry I felt totally blindsided. I had no reason to trust this man aside from the title Dr. and the fact that he had a room for me to sit in.The visit was a total waste of money. I left with two prescriptions that I didn’t even know the names or uses of since they were NEVER described to me. Came to find out from CVS that even with insurance they cost over $500 each. I looked them up and one was dapsone gel, which is specifically noted as less effective than common retinoids for Docs diagnosis, and “not a first order treatment” on several medical websites.I would NOT recommend.
Do NOT go to this doctor! I was eager to see a dermatologist sooner than later (many other places I called had a month+ wait) What a mistake! During the 2 minutes I was with Dr. Amster, he did a a quick peripheral glance at my face and told me I had acne. I told him I had very sensitive skin and was allergic to a certain ingredient that's in some facial products. He proceeded to knowingly prescribe me three different prescriptions all with this ingredient in them. When I called to get a new prescription, he ended up prescribing me a cream that burned my skin and caused my face to swell. The pain was unbearable. I have since gone to a different dermatologist, who correctly diagnosed my condition (i.e. which was NOT acne). Going to a professional doctor made me realize how truly horrible Dr. Amster is. It's a miracle he still has his license.

Treated my wife today. Aside from being upset with the exam and gruff behavior, she was shocked that people were removing masks and shaking hands (Bad COVID Hygiene). He was pulling his mask out to talk at point blank range and shaking peoples hands.
Dr Amster is awesome. I had a skin issue on my face. Went to emergency room. Was misdiagnosed, put on prednisone.. Rash got worse. Went to urgent care. Was misdiagnosed and put on wrong medication once again. After being so frustrated I called his office and they where booked solid. I told them what I was dealing with and they were so compassionate and squeezed me in. I had to wait a bit but was so appreciative. Dr Amster saw me and did not agree with the diagnosis that I had received. He changed my meds, did a biopsy. It’s been less than 24 hours and I already see improvement. He’s the man! Thank you Dr Amster.
I have been seeing Dr. Amster in Brighton for many years after he took over Dr Bermans practice. There has been a turnover of staff over the years with some variety in helpfulness and support. There is a very good staff in the office currently. Usually it has been no news is good news after I get a biopsy done, recently I have gotten phone calls to tell me that everything is ok. I really appreciate the caring atmosphere and concern for patients in this office.
I am sitting in Dr Amsters office. My appointment was at 1:15 and it is now 2:30. This has happened every visit for the past 6 years. Rude office manager. If your time is valuable, this is not the place for you!
Dr. Mark Amster was dismissive of my concerns and gave me the impression that he was an arrogant unsympathetic know it all who hasn't bothered to keep up to date with any new medical advances/research findings since the day that he had become a dermatologist 25+years ago. I've personally done a lot of research and read into numerous recent studies as it relates to my condition. However, Dr. Amster was automatically dismissive of these studies but could not provide me sufficient rationale/explanation to support his position. Dr. Amster is the worst dermatologist that i've seen in my 20+ years of life. If you are looking for an older dermatologist who will dismiss science, recent findings, your feelings, and cannot provide sufficient information to support his position, then he is the right dermatologist for you. To the potential new patient behind the computer, i might not know you....but i hope that you will take the time to look for a more competent dermatologist for yourself.
I have been attending Dr. Amster almost since his inception as an M.D. He has a very low-key manner and always addresses my concerns. He never makes the visit seemed rushed, as many other practitioner's offices do. I see him at least 2-3x year. When he sees anything suspicious, he takes a sample for biopsy. Thankfully, in all these years, only one came back that needed further attention.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
