List of Jean Fechheimer Md's Reviews
She basically insinuated I lied about what the ER told me, she didn't listen to me, and she repeatedly told me I wasn't feeling what I was feeling. Very frustrating. Would never go back.
Dr. Fetchheimer made me feel like I needed a darn good reason for having made my appointment today. Perhaps she has a hidden desire to be a trial attorney, because I really felt as though I was on the witness stand. I truly felt like my coming to see her had been a huge imposition. Fortunately, she's not my regular GYN. Dr. D'Avenas was out of the office this week. I missed her, because she's terrific. Also, odd with Dr. Fetchheimer, she kept asking me what my diagnosis was. Last time I checked, I hadn't been to medical school. I am getting older and a bit forgetful. Maybe I am a GYN and have forgotten(?) This is a doctor who really doesn't like her profession and should consider a change. I just hope she hasn't missed something important during my visit today. I'll definitely get a second opinion by someone who cares.
Dr. Fetchheimer was my OB, then my gyno for several years. Though she no longer does obstetrics, she has been a huge part of helping me through a failed pregnancy. She helped me set up the D and E, checked on me in recovery, and followed up with phone calls and fielded my questions. I couldn't ask for a more caring and kind medical practitioner.
I've been seeing dr. Fechheimer for years. I first questioned her bed side manner when she performed a leep procedure several years ago but stayed with her. Recently, I had a miscarriage and was appalled at the way I was treated at the office. The Triage nurse wanted me to discuss my sonogram results in public while I stood behind the glass in the full patient room! I told her "well that's why I'm here, to discuss the results in private". Dr. Fechheimer has not spoken directly with me ONCE throughout the entire 9 week pregnancy ordeal, failed abortion and 2 times failed misoprostol treatments. The Nurse was the one interacting with me. I feel extremely uncared for and will not have her perform and D&C if it's needed. I'm looking for a more caring doctor.
Moved to Boston in 2000 (Somerville actually) and a coworker from Belmont recommended I see Dr. Fechheimer. So glad she did! Dr. Fechheimer is personable, engaged, and seems to care about me as a patient. She really took the time to get to know me at my first appointment which has made me that much more comfortable trusting her professional judgment over the years. The office staff is mostly very friendly and helpful as well. Also, just to address some of the other comments on here, I'd love to know where Sarah H. moved here from and how long ago, but waiting a half hour (or more) to be seen at a doctor's office, while intensely frustrating, is standard operating procedure around here with any doctor worth seeing (basically if you're not waiting to be seen, you should probably ask yourself why and think twice about that doctor). Also, Allison R. Seems to have a very interesting view of what a doctor's job is. Obviously it stinks to pay all that money out of pocket when everything turned out fine, but come on, would you rather she not relate her fears to you and end up needing emergency surgery when your cyst bursts?
I went to Dr. Fechheimer for many years. One day I had a problem and called, she never returned my call. I called many times and still no reply. I finally went in for my appointment and she addressed the problem and with a simple procedure it was resolved. When the study came out on the negative aspects of hormone supplements I brought it up with her and she was violently against my going off the medication, even though my internist and other doctors thought I should go off it. I got the feeling she had not read the study. At that point I decided to get a new oby/gyn and her office had the gall to charge me for sending my file to a new doctor. Something my health insurance company said was very unprofessional. I was never ever seen on time by Dr. Fechheimer for all the years I went to her. My advice: go to another doctor.
The yearly trip to the OB is not high on my list. Even so, Dr. Fechheimer and her team make it more than ok, they make it pleasant.
I just moved to the area and needed a new GYN that I could trust. Dr Fechheimer foots that bill perfectly. I found her personal, interested in my well being, and professional. My first visit was longer than I expected, as she spent time getting to know me as a new patient. I expect that I may have to wait in a future office appointment as she treats another patient with the same level of compassionate care.
I would highly recommend Dr. Fechheimer. She has been my doctor for just about 20 years. I have a lengthly history and have also had minor surgery performed by her. She is very smart, pleasant, helpful and understanding. Not to mention she did a fantastic surgery. I have never waited more than 15 min in the waiting room or in the exam room, however it doesn't bother me to wait because when its my turn I don't want to be rushed.
I would never recommend Dr. Fechheimer. I feel that she did not take the time to listen to me. Furthermore, the exam/pap smear she gave me were VERY rough (and I've had more than 20 in my life.) We are fortunate to have so many health care options in Boston that I would encourage all women to look elsewhere.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
