List of Smiles Over Cambridge's Reviews
I wouldn't say going to the dentist is fun, but the team at Smiles Over Cambridge was probably the best dental experiences I've had. The receptionists, the hygienists, the dentist were all so warm, friendly, and didn't make me feel bad about flossing. The space is clean, modern, and full of thoughtful touches. Their dental equipment is all really top of the art. Can't recommend this place enough!
My son broke his tooth, so we came to this dentist's office as it was recommended by our pediatric dentist, for my son to have his root canal finalized and a new tooth built. The practice is led by Dr. Emily Chang, and she may be wonderful, as she was the actual dentist the pediatric dentist recommended. However, when I inquired about her, I was referred instead to Dr. Russell Taylor. I had that motherly intuition that I should have requested Dr. Chang, herself, but the appointment was time-sensitive, so I just went with the receptionist's recommendation. She assured me he was great with kids. He's "so nice." As soon as the appointment started, he asked me to leave the room, even knowing that my child had a lot of trepidation about being at the dentist. I've been down this road with medical practitioners before, and I remained in the room. When my son was being numbed, my son squeezed my hand really tight, and when I said -- "ooh," Dr. Taylor said - "See, I told you. It's always better for parents to leave the room." I said, "I hear you, but I am staying." I'm glad I did because at least now I know the mean things he said to my child, and I can only imagine what he would say if a parent wasn't present. When my son cried during the numbing, he said, "Be a big, brave boy and stop crying." Ew. Thank you for that healthy dose of toxic masculinity. And when my son made loud gagging sounds later in the procedure, he said, "Why are you yelling at me?!" And when the procedure was over, he talked to me, but didn't talk to my son at all, and left without saying goodbye. Also, when I asked about follow-up, and going back for the OK from our pediatric dentist, Dr. Taylor said, "Or, you could keep coming here. Your child is old enough to see a regular dentist." So, in effect, poaching another office's patients. Ew. And I watched as he was working, and in general, he has a rough manner. I've sat through countless dentists with my kids and most recently a root canal, and this was notably different. I said flat out to the receptionist, "He's not a dad, is he?" And she said he wasn't, and it's readily apparent. You don't have to be a dad to be a good dentist with kids, but you need to actually like kids. Yes, this dentist built my son a tooth, but he was rude, condescending, and critical. He lacks "bedside manner." My son said he was uncomfortable the entire procedure the way he was positioned, but was too afraid to speak up. I shared my experience with the receptionist -- said we'd never see him again, and shared that I told our pediatric dentist to be very careful referring patients to this practice. The receptionist and the assistant were nice, it was clean, nice location, but hard no. . . if you're bringing your kids here, I would never.
Very thorough, patient-friendly appointment.
The most thorough cleaning I’ve ever had.
Wonderful, friendly, competent dentists, hygienists and staff!
Very pleasant experience! From the front desk staff, to the hygienist, to the dentist, everyone was kind and professional. I had a great experience, particularly as someone who dreads going to the dentist. Their in-office technology is vastly superior to other dentists I’ve visited in the area. Their clear explanations of the things they were seeing in my scans helped me better understand my tooth health and feel empowered to take better care of my teeth/gums/etc. Highly recommend them!
Friendly and efficient
I’ve been a patient of Smiles for a number of years. You cannot find a more professional, courteous and competent staff. Always accommodating and a pleasure to work with.
Very friendly and surprisingly comfortable experience. Skilled and well equipped dentists/hygienists here!
I have followed the practice from Somerville to Cambridge. Dr Emily Chang and her staff are fantastic. I have referred her to my brother and his family and would encourage anyone to use this dental group. It will result in beautiful smiles and the knowledge that you have put your teeth in the best of hands!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
