Peter Roman's Online Review Report Card

I had knee pain for eight years and had finally decided to get it checked. I was having a hard time going up and down stairs, pain with walking, pain with squatting, and sometimes random pain while sitting. I was 28. Dr Roman barely looked at my x-rays and MRI before telling me I was fine and my pain wasn’t as bad as I thought. He told me that farmers who work in the fields all day are going to have knee problems and surgery but that since I am not doing any such physical labor I would be fine. He told me to work out more (was active and working out 3x a week) as well as “stretch like an Olympic gymnast” (I was a gymnast for 14 years). He dismissed all of my concerns and told my I was young and healthy. I am currently one year post op from Medial Patello-Femoral Ligament reconstruction surgery and doing great! If you are young, I would NOT suggest seeing Dr Roman!

Dr Roman is a highly qualified and skilled orthopedic surgeon. He has the ability to offer alternative options and personalize the care he provides. He can do any procedure and do it safely and skillfully! Highly Recommend!!

I had a my Ankle and heel smash last April and was not recommended having surgery which left me in confusion. Dr. Roman had told me after 6-8 weeks I would be able to walk but everytime I went for a follow up he kept telling me the same thing over and over. My appointments were always 5 mins top and was never able to express my thoughts. I strongly believe if I had surgery I would have been back to walking and doing my regular routine as I used to. It took me exactly 1 whole year to be able to walk without crutches and even until this day iam still limping as I’m walking, still in pain, still can’t feel my side motion, still can’t run or lift anything heavy. I feel helpless. I do not recommend Dr. Roman to anyone! Please do yourself a favor and do your research.

I felt like Dr Roman couldn’t have been bothered to speak to me, he never asked any questions about my pain or where it hurt, he told me it was arthritis and I had no fracture, he gave me a thumb splint which hadn’t improved the pain at all. I went to MGH yesterday for a 2nd opinion and they listened to me and examined my hand (none of which Dr Roman did) and they did further X-rays based on my complaints and found that I have a left trapezium fracture. I am extremely frustrated with the lack of caring/listening he did and I felt/feel extremely disrespected by him while I was there.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Dr. Roman is the best my ankle got smashed pretty bad in a car accident I got plates and Screws on both sides of my right ankle surgery was perfect! Recovery time is going good ( accident happened 3 months ago) I’ve had no Complications and I’ll be walking in no time Thank you very much Dr. Roman I am beyond grateful. Any future Surgery’s I will definitely be going back to him.

I was given intramedullary femur hardware. It works, but I don't know if it was the right choice. Maybe doing nothing or amputating would be better. I can't find good evidence that titanium alloy is nontoxic enough to leave in for life. It might cause slight brain damage. They wouldn't remove it. They probably did more followup X-rays than necessary.

I would recommend Dr. Roman to anyone. He did multiple surgeries on my legs that now allows me to walk without crutches sustained from old injuries. Great personality as well.

I went to Dr. Roman for a follow-up about a knee injury I sustained a few months ago. I had had an x-ray at a different office that didn't show a break, so I needed an MRI. Dr. Roman walked in, laughed at me for wearing a knee brace, and treated me like a child. He didn't even look at my knee. I was (and am) in tons of pain for SURPRISE, what turned out to be real damage done to my meniscus. He told me "don't sit down too much, don't stand up too much" and to take ibuprofen. I told him that's not possible because I work in the service industry and the ibuprofen won't touch my pain. He brushed me off and sent me on my way. I cried in the front office because I had never been treated so poorly by a doctor and just wanted someone to listen to me. I've since found another doctor that listened to my concerns, examined my knee and MRI and suggested surgery.

Thankful to have had Dr. Roman treat our son's injury in the emergency room. Clearly explained the injury, the procedure needed, performed the procedure with care and a thorough explanation. Communicated well with my son and was a calming influence.
