Dr. Hwang operated on me three times. I needed a c3-c7 fusion due to severely herniated discs with stenosis and spinal cord impingement. First fusion was done anterior with the understanding that it might not fully fuse. Dr. Hwang explained the possibility that anterior 4-level fusions have the possibility of not fully fusing but it was still worth the try to go in through the front and save my trapezius muscles, which would be a far more difficult recovery. Unfortunately I eventually needed the posterior cervical fusion, but I went back to Dr. Hwang with a sense of comfort and confidence instead of fear. I knew I was in good hands. The guy is just so gentle and thoughtful. I'm eternally grateful that people like Dr. Hwang exist.

Dr. Wang explained all my options very thoroughly and did not push me in any direction. He is very thoughtful and understanding. I opted for spinal fusion surgery, and it is being scheduled.

Dr Hwang did a five procedure surgery on my lower spine. Prior to surgery, I was in a wheelchair; following surgery I could walk 5 miles without any assistance. Dr Hwang is by far the most outstanding surgeon I have ever encountered. He explains everything very clearly, answers all of my questions, and discusses options. I highly recommend him to patients who have spinal issues.

I agree with so many of the reviews here. Dr. Hwang is a thoughtful person. And I don’t mean nice, which he is. I mean he’s a thinker. Other surgeons I talked to wanted to fuse my spine, which I didn’t like. Dr. Hwang gave me multiple options and helped me decide which to do. So far everything has been great. Thank you for taking the time to help me make the right choice.

I’m glad I decided to get a second opinion with Dr. Hwang. He helped me understand what’s going on with my back better. After talking with him I decided to have a smaller surgery. That was 6 months ago and today I feel great. Very very good decision.

Dr. Hwang performed an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at two levels in my neck in 2017, after a lengthy and very painful ordeal with cervical radiculopathy. As an adult athlete, this was a difficult decision to arrive at as I was very concerned about how my active lifestyle might change. I just have to say how very thankful I am for Dr. Hwang because his surgery completely changed my life. I had sought a few opinions prior to meeting Dr. Hwang and felt 100% confident going into surgery that I was in excellent hands. If anyone out there is dealing with severe pain and considering any type of spine surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Hwang.
