Mary Smyth's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Mary Smythe, ENT. Refusing to see a patient of record with an urgent health concern because she does not deem it to be an urgent matter, in her opinion. Unethical and careless.

Unprofessional, abrasive, combative, uncompassionate, mean, degrading, and straight out awful are just a few of the words I would use to describe Dr. Smyth. I should have heeded the advice of the other reviews, but I assumed they may have been the problem and gave her a chance. I just left Dr. Mary Smyth’s office about 45 minutes ago, and I am still crying from how I was treated. The equipment looks like it’s from 1950 all gross and stained. Walls peeling. Fluids running down the walls & equipment. No computer. I waited an hour in that disgusting room! I have PTSD from COVID. She yelled at me so much that I was crying. I asked her to please stop she was scaring me. She told me it was not her, it was ME that had the problem. I told her kindly she was being abrasive and combative and she cont. to yell while I cried. As a professional myself I can't imagine treating anyone this way. I find her barbaric in nature and should not practice.

Dr. Smyth was the rudest doctor I have ever seen. I took my 15 year old son to her who has legitimate hearing impairment and she yelled at him and put him down at the office visit telling me that he was not being serious and was faking it at the testing. He seriously was tryin his best at the test. I did not engage her behavior, which is not like me, and when we walked out of the office visit I looked at my son and said I promise you will never have to see her again. He said Oh thank God mom, I couldn't believe you were so quiet in there. I told him I couldn't believe the behavior I was seeing from a doctor talking to a child. Do not bring your children to her.

Dr. Smyth has gone above and beyond to help more than one member of our family, even to the point of saving their lives, and we honestly cannot thank her enough. She is a very sweet, kind, and caring woman, and we all wish her, her family, and her staff and families well.

She was to the point of my problem. She was thorough and understanding to my concerns and needing answers to my Ear problem. I fell confident she find the issue to resolve it.

Called in July to make an appointment, and was scheduled for early September. Received a call 90 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment in September, and was told Dr. Smythe couldn't see me that day, and that I'd have to wait until early October. Decided to go to another provider.

Reading other reviews I can see where some felt the way they felt. Dr. Smythe is very direct. But I feel like it comes with knowledge and repetition of cases she's had. Dr. Smythe knows what she is doing and talking about. She has now done my daughter's removal of adenoids a few years ago, and a tonsillectomy on me recently. And each was done quick and proficiently. My daughter and I both greatly improved after the procedures.

Highly recommended! She is empathetic, listens to you, and is direct in her recommendations. I have been to a number of ENT specialists and can say that she is the best!

The assistant was quite rude to me, despite her making a mistake. The dr also wasn’t the nicest, and asked me leading questions that made me look ridiculous. I won’t be returning to this office

This was the most strange and uncomfortable experience I had ever had in a doctors office. Came in to see her for a dizzy spell I had experienced. She came in the room in a huff and looked visibly exasperated. Initially, I thought she was joking as she started right off the bat becoming animated, loud, and visibly irritated. She was asking (or rather interrogating) me about my experience. I soon realized she wasn't joking and that she was actually upset with me. I couldn't believe it... I had never met this woman before and had simply come to her for help. She come to the conclusion that it was probably a migraine since I didn't have any hearing issues. I wish I had not paid my $150 copay just to leave with my whole day messed up after nearly being brought to tears by this witch. Glad my issue wasn't severe. I can't imagine dealing with her if I had had a serious medical issue. The mental/emotional stress alone would kill me. FIND ANOTHER ENT DOC! Literally any other would be better.
