List of Dr John J Costa's Reviews
Veronica is literally the rudest office manager I have ever spoken to on the phone, she needs to work on her interpersonal skills via the phone, she was making rude comments about how she didn't understand how I even had a job, just kept talking down to me and be very rude for no reason at all other than just because she could....
I took my 12 years old daughter to him ,she suffers some kind allergy it cost me 500$ out of pockets ,for only one visit, we do have a high deductible insurance it's like we don't have insurance, anyway so I skip the follow up apt because I could not afford to pay 500$ again, so after 2 years I had to take her back to him, she had some breathing problem, he asked me how come I did not bring her Back for a follow up apt I said to him that last visit cost me 500$ out of pocket, his answer was;that's not my problem; she needs to stay on the same medications ,bring her back in one month, this appointment cost me out of pocket 335$,she felt better after about 1 weeks I cancelled the follow up apt, after about 1 month I called his office, talk to his nurse, I told her my daughter is doing better ,so I asked her if my she needs to take less medications, she said let me talk to the doctor and I will call you back, the following day she called ,gave some new instructions, and said that if i don't make at least 2 appointments a year with him ,he will not renew her medications, I could not believe it.this doctor cares only about the money not his patients ,where are the regulators in this country?the government allow these insurance companies to sell scams to people & the doctors are taking advantages.
I am pretty choosy when it come to health care providers. I actually looked forward to my visits with Dr. Costa. First, he is funny which I find relaxing. Second he is more than thorough and took extensive notes at each visit. I saw him many years ago and wish I had never moved away. He is an exceptional physician.
Dr. Costa killed my father. My father went once a month for a checkup. He had no appetite. He told him to drink Ensure. On Monday, August 14, 2017, he was finally diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer that had spread to his liver. He had NO chance of radiation or chemo. Methodist Hospital was shocked that he was never diagnosed. He died on Friday, August 18, 2017. Dr. Costa robbed my dad of any fighting chance to live. He should not be allowed to practice medicine. Now, I am going to make it my mission to take his license the way he took my dad's last chance. Buckle up Dr. Costa, because I am going to now give you the fight of your life. Contacting lawyers today!
Dr. Costa is an excellent physician. He spends plenty of time with all of his patients, and is very thorough with his examination and always takes the time to explain everything. When you call his office you will always get a return phone call the same day. I highly recommend Dr. Costa to all my friends and acquaintances.
Doctor Costa has been my allergist for the past 17 years. I went from using the inhaler and steroids every spring and fall to not needing them! He is very attentive, remembers the details about his patients, has great bedside manners. I am very happy with him and recommended him to friends and colleagues.
outstanding doctor
I had a chronic cough for 13 years. Saw 7 different doctors, ENTs, Allergists, Pulmonary, PCPs to no avail. One visit to Dr. Costa cured my long time nagging cough.
This doctor should not be practicing medicine. He cared for my father in law with COPD and he kept saying, he is doing well and improving. Even when after a year of hospital bouts, when he finally diagnosed him with stage 4 cancer, he kept saying things are looking better. My father in law was dying and Dr Costa said he was I proving, what a quack. Stay away from this doctor if you love your family member.
Dr. Costa was running 45 mins late for my initial appointment. When he came in to meet me for the first time, he shook my hand, never looked at me or made eye contact, then asked me to move my bag from the chair beside me. When I moved it to a counter space, he said "Move it off there too, I need that space", which I promptly did. He then staring silently at my chart. I collected myself and the courage to asked him if there was a reason why we were running so late, as I was worried about missing work appointments. He said "Because you were late." I was very surprised to say the least as I arrived at 9:22 for a 9:20 appointment (and only because I had been misdirected to the wrong floor by security staff). I explained I was not late, and he said then it was probably due to the fact that I hadn't filled in the paperwork prior to my arrival (which I had!). Then he tried to explain that he wasn't aware that I had been placed in the consulting room. When I explained I was in the midst of trying to change to work appointments which I would not miss, he seemed nonplussed. I asked him if it was commonplace for him to run this late, and he sloughed me off. This is a doctor with an ego large than his medical degree. He lacks compassion and understanding. I recommend looking elsewhere as his response and ability to communicate warmly and in a kind, caring fashion is non-existent. In the end, he ended the appointment by saying he would not care for me, and I should find another doctor. An absolute first for me, and the only time I have ever even heard of this happening. I have been suffering from hives for four months and had waited a long time for this appointment. This doctor's inability to deal with patients on a human level is outrageous. He needs to examine his approach.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
