List of Matthew S. Katz's Reviews
Rude, dismissive, and condescending: that pretty much sums up Dr. Katz. I went for a a recurring health concern that was healing up. He briefly looked at it, said there there was nothing for him to treat and that the skin was normal (it wasn't; I know how my skin behaves.) I had gone to see my PCP first and he scolded me for not going to see him first. He is so out of touch that he doesn't realize that it make take months to get an appointment with him. He talked a lot and didn't pay attention to my concerns. Seemingly, he likes to listen to himself. The second time I went to see him (months later for my yearly physical and the unresolved medical condition), it was "rinse and repeat": rude, dismissive, and condescending. He really wouldn't listen to my concerns. Since this was during my yearly physical, when I told the nurse I still had the other unresolved issue, she told the doctor. I overheard him outside the door, telling her I couldn't do the two exams because of money/billing. That I could not combine two appointments. He rushed through my yearly physical. I guess, had he found something during my yearly physical, he would had not treated it and said I had to come back at a later time. This second time, he asked me why I hadn't gone to my original doctor for the unresolved. And I am thinking, "because you told me to come back to you." Please, make. up. your. mind. He was unprofessional and I have read here some reviews about him mistreating minorities. I am a minority and would hate to see this behavior as a pattern of discrimination against minorities, as this may have some ethical implications. I am sure the medical board would not like to hear about this. I truly miss my previous dermatologist (in a different state). He was everything you wanted in a dermatologist. Dr. Katz lacks in all major areas. He is mediocre at best. I am never going back to him. As it turns out, I went to a different dermatologist who listened to my concerns and was able to treat me properly.
Seeing Dr. Katz was a waste of time, and the Co-Pay. I scheduled a visit with Dr. Katz for a skin condition that was healing by the time of my appointment, but I went anyway. The day of the appointment he came into the exam room with an assistant, asked me some questions and preceded to just talk, give advice etc, but he never performed an exam, nor was I prescribed anything for my condition. I suspect that Dr. Katz's runs his practice in a manner in-which he seeks to avoid getting sued for anything, or he is afraid of being sued. There could be a racial element to this ( I am a minority), but I have no facts. However, there was no exam AT ALL. I subsequently saw a different Dermatologist who was the complete opposite, I received an actual exam, was prescribed a medication, and my problem was resolved in a week. Do not book here.
Worst experience I have EVER had at a doctor's office. My first time with this doc. Definitely won't be going back. Everything about it was awful.
Concurring with all the negative reviews and here and wish I read them before my visit. What an absolute douche!!! Rude, condescending and all about the money. When in with 3 issues and told immediately by the assistant that he would not handle all of them. He walks in, barely looks at me and says, "I won't be addressing all these issues today." huh? He gave me a total of 12 minutes (timed it). I have been taking a drug for over 5 years and get a new annual prescription once a year. He insisted if I want it from him, I would need to come in every 6 months (read: $$). I got more info on my condition from MedMD.
I have had a really good experience with Dr. Katz. He's helpful, will explain if I need more information and has really helped me with my eczema and acne. He's direct but the guy knows what he's doing and personally that's my preference. I also have to say, Leah, who I believe is the medical assistant/nurse, is amazing. She has really gone above and beyond for me when I switched insurance companies and have had many issues going through approvals for my specialty medication. She updates me through all processes and always calls me back and helps to the best of her ability.
Dr. Matthew Katz runs an extremely professional and patient friendly practice. I see him every 6 months for skin check ups and treatments as needed. His staff are diligent and helpful on all of the insurance minutiae. He is an active listener w a 5 Star bedside manner. ---PSmith
The doctor and his medical assistant Leah are racist!I will make a formal complaint documentation through multiple channels, helping someone like me to avoid a rude, mean and unfair treatment.
I've been going to Dr. Katz for decades and never had any problems. I called this morning with a rash on my arm and was told the earliest appointment was nearly 3 weeks away. When I asked what I would should do, I was told to go to an emergency room. When I suggested my internist they seem led to think that was a better option, because I told them I never have a problem getting in to see my internist. They said they were going to message Dr. Katz's office and let them know the situation and Perhaps they would call within the next 24 hours to fit me in. Depending on the outcome I told them I may be looking for a new doctor. The woman thanked me and hung up. Unfortunately I think this has to do with the practice joining a large corporate practice, Anne Arundel dermatology. I know I was calling a centralized appointment number. So much for personalized care.
20+ years as a patient and when my son had an emergency they were rude and wouldn't fit him in. Time for our family to find a new doctor. I would give negative stars if that was an option.
Absolutely TERRIBLE! Kept referring to my son as a she even after correcting him. His name isn't even unisex seemed intentional after a while.I walked out of appointment once he sneezed and chose to hold on to the tissue he blew his nose with while attempting to examine my sons skin. Before he could that I left . Do not go this place just awful awful awful. Please do your research on non recommended reviews on another site. There lies the truth!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
