George Barrett's Online Review Report Card

This guy and his office are horrible. Don't know their patients and don't listen. Go elsewhere if you can.

Dr. Barrett calls his practice a "digestive health center" that is associated with Beth Israel Hospital. However, he is a one man show, no nurse practitioner, or support staff. He said that he had very good results treating "Sibo", advised a colonoscopy which was negative and then two months of two antibiotics which did absolutely nothing. He didn't want to see my son for three months from the initial visit, would not return phone calls to discuss his lack of progress and extreme pain during the use of the second antibiotic. His message back to him was "take a bottle of citrus of magnesia! I wrote multiple emails through the portal and spoke to his receptionist multiple times begging for a 5 minute consultation. When nothing worked, I asked him to make a referral to the Beth Israel Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center but again, no reply. I finally made arrangements with a different center where a friend of a friend got him an appointment. Do not go to Dr. Barrett!!!

Dr Barrett was nice and that’s about the only thing I’m happy with. If you want rude staff, this is the place to go! It has taken 3+ days to have the doctor call the insurance for a prior authorization to get my medicine. When told by staff to call back the next day to check, my fiancé and I were yelled at by staff over the phone to stop calling. Very unprofessional. Seek treatment elsewhere.

I honestly do not understand the negative reviews from above because Dr. Barrett is extremely kind and caring. He has excellent bedside manner and really spends the extra time to listen to your needs and concerns. His knowledge and expertise helped me to come up with a specific regimen to help my IBS-C which I have struggled with my whole life. I now feel SO much better! Highly recommend Dr. Barrett! He is the best!!

Dr. Barrett is an amazing doctor. He is smart, kind, and cares so much about his patients. His staff were kind and helpful. He completely cured me of my IBS and helped turn my life around. I cannot recommend him enough

He might be ok if nothing complicated is wrong but I was his patient for 10 years prescribed tons of antibiotics and probiotics for “IBS”- had to beg for him to do additional tests, he didn’t read the reports, almost missed an issue that was only caught because I asked him to examine me (he usually didn’t do physical exams)- he was very rude and yelled at/chastised me at two appointments both times Leaving me bawling in the office. If you do go to him get a second opinion just in case- I should have a lot sooner.

I just had a great experience with Dr. Barrett. He was attentive and took a lot of time to go over my symptoms and treatment approach. I did not feel like he was rushing at all. His office manager was also kind and extremely helpful.

Dr. Barrett is fine if you present as a typical case for GERD (I would still get a second opinion). I was diagnosed with Barrett’s Esophagus at 29 and he was fairly dismissive about my concerns. I wouldn’t recommend him for BE treatment or anything out of the ordinary. My second opinion turned into my primary GI doctor. They were surprised by some of his responses and requested additional tests. It turns out that I have other GI issues that Dr. Barrett missed (and dismissed).

Dr Barrett has been extremely caring and supportive of my condition and treatment. I would highly recommend him.
