Lawrence Handler's Online Review Report Card

I would highly recommend Dr Handler! He was my GI specialist when I was having gastro issues and he was kind & caring throughout the process. He also took time to consistently follow up when my issues were referred to DFCI.

I've been seeing Dr Handler for ok very a year. He has been very proactive at getting me off some very strong meds. He spends plenty of time with me and genuinely cares. I highly recommend Dr Handler

When I went to see this doctor in DECEMBER 2018, I knew I needed to have a stapled hemorroidectomy due to 3-4th degree hemorrhoids. He referred me to someone else, (after the hour and a half late appt for a colonoscopy he scheduled first) who was not the correct doctor I needed to see for my issue. I contacted him on more than 1 occasion only to be given the run around. I am now at the point of being in so much pain I have to resort to go to an ER today. I’ve have my legs and toes tingle and become numb due to so much pain. I’ve told him this more than once and he does nothing. DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR!!!! You’ll be wasting your time!!!!

I was seeing him for a few years and he kept telling me to come see him every 4 to 5 months. He kept tell me I was also backed up in plain English I was constipated. He kept tell me all kinds of beans in and plant protein. I shared with my friend who also was seeing him everything that he said to me at the visit. He told me everything that Dr. handler said to me he was saying same thing to him. I had have to talk with my friend a lot of doubts so I decided to talk to my MD about him. He told me after I shared everything that was going on that I will not need another colonoscopy for another 2 1/2 years. I really believe this guy is only interested in money only and nothing else. I think he’s an incompetent quack. Thanks to this idiot my blood sugar was a little high and now I have to straighten it out. I was getting diarrhea every week to throw his stupid advice. I was talking to my friend about it and I decide to go back to my normal routine I want to eat. My MD said to me when you need a gastrologist I will tell you. I will send you to somebody that I know. I really think insurance company should investigate this guy. I canceled my appointment with him and I also said I’m going to another doctor.

Well I found out a good friend of mine was seeing him. I shared with him what the doctor was telling me I how I was backed up. He said he was getting the same identical words that I was getting. He would tell me to come back every 4 to 5 months to see him. I ended up changing my diet due to him and not thinking am I sugar up was high. Just saw my MD and I shared with him with everything he was saying to me and my friend he said you don’t need a gastrologist for another 2 1/2 years. I told him everything that he had said to me. He said I’m your doctor and I will take care of you. When the time is right you do need one I will send you the one that I know. This guy is only looking for money on the insurance companies. I’m planning on going to my insurance company on Monday and let them know what I experience with him. I canceled my appointments with him.

I see Dr Handler every few years, and he is always professional and takes time to discuss my medical situation in detail. I have always recommended him to others without hesitation.

This man cares so much and he is so thorough and reassuring. I wouldn't go to anyone else.

Both the office staff and dr. Handler are extremely arrogant and unprofessional you spend about 5 minutes in the office within have to waiting anywhere between 45 minutes an hour and a half beyond your scheduled appointment he lays you on the table filled your stomach right you two or three prescriptions and tells you to come back in 6 months he doesn't check your weight your blood pressure or anything else I saw him for a number of years but the final straw was when I called for a week straight rectal bleeding left messages with his office staff in never got a call back I found a new doctor requested medical records which they said they would send to the new doctor and when the records were never received and I called I was then told they would not be sent unless I paid a fee for them dr. Handler is only interested in one thing and that is seen as many patients as he can to make as much money as he can and doesn't really care about patient care

Went to him three times, did not give me a correct diagnosis and told me I needed to be patient after waiting to scheduled for a test that I desperately needed. I was patient for too long. Ended up in the emergency room to be admitted to have gallbladder removed. Could have been ended up a lot worse had I not landed in the ER. I'm totally disappointed. I totally lost my faith and trust in him after all that time of always getting great care from him for over 20 years. I thought he would reach out to me after to find out how I was, but nothing.

My wife and I have each had two colonoscopies with Dr. Handler, without issue. Unfortunately, after recently changing to a new primary care physician, Dr. Handler has demonstrated an unwillingness to share our pathology results with our primary care physician. His office staff - while courteous - appears unsure of what their policies are. Initially told records would be sent once a fax number was provided, which I gave, ten days later, when the records were never received, I was subsequently told by Dr. Handler that a signed release would be required and that there would be an additional charge to send the records. When I requested to know the date and time that the records were sent so that I could follow up with my primary care physician's office, Dr. Handler would not provide - I have to believe they were never sent. I hold doctors to a higher standard as their actions impact on a patients health. An unwillingness to readily share a patient's medical history with the patient's other health care providers is not acting in the best interest of the patient. Very disappointing.
