List of Kari E Emsbo's Reviews
I absolutely LOVE Dr. Emsbo and think she is amazing across the board! She is kind, attentive and listens to my concerns. She always explains things thoroughly and gets to the root of your problems. I have found that calling the front desk can be difficult (put on hold or VM often) but emailing works well. Overall I’m really happy with her as my PCP!
Many excellent doctors in boston area. She is not one of them. Worse experience in my life. Please go elsewhere.
She is rude and dismissive, does not seem to hear my concerns. I have been a patient for a few years and am leaving. Twice she has mis-coded my mammograms, costing me $700 each time. Currently on hold with her office (13 minutes of "please stay on the line..." during business hours) to try and fix the coding for the most recent one. At my last physical, I was 4 minutes late due to holiday traffic, and she took another patient ahead of me, causing me to wait 30 minutes. When I explained I was only 4 minutes late and that I didn't realize the traffic would be so bad 2 days before Thanksgiving, her response was a flippant "oh, poor you". I have changed PCPs, obviously, but still have to deal with re-coding the mammogram so I do not have to pay another $700 for something my insurance covers 100%. There are a zillion great doctors in the Boston area, choose one other than Kari Emsbo.
Said I had skin cancer when it was hives. Let me go through withdrawal 3 times on medication that cannot be skipped even a day. I had to wait 7-8 days three months in a row for her office to send the script to my pharmacy. They kept getting my pharmacy location wrong over and over even though I kept telling them the correct one. Dr. Emsbo hardly ever made eye contact. It seems all she knows how to do is order bloodwork
I needed a new PCP and got her name from a doctor that I really respected. I was very optimistic and felt that she would be a great fit. I went in for my an initial new patient physical soon after. My 1st impression was that she seemed a little cold and very matter of fact. The appointment was very short for an initial consulte and felt a bit rushed, but I was still optimistic and felt that maybe she was just having an off day. A short time later I went in for what I thought was a UTI. Upon calling her office I was offered multiple time slots for the same day. I went in later that day and was told that "I did not have a UTI that the test came back negative." She told me it was likely caused by inflammation and tried pushing another doctor who had recently joined their practus. The inflammation part made sense to me since, I was already being treat for it by another doctor. I tried explaining this to her, but she didn't want to hear anything about it. She rudely spoke at me not with me. "She repeatedly insisted that I take a prescription for an antibiotic even though I had no infection." She told me if the pain persist, to take that antibiotic. I repeatedly told her that the inflammation was caused by doctors over prescribing antibiotics in the 1st place and that I did not want the prescription. I stopped at the counter to check out and left the prescription down, she took the prescription off the counter and chased after me and aggressively shoved it into my hand, even though I again told her that I did not want it. Once I left the office I threw it in the trash and never returned. She clearly has a "God complex" and is a very rude and aggressive woman. I find some of the positive reviews a little skeptical, because I have met 2 of her patients since and they had similar experiences to mine. Both patients stated that she comes off as cold and aggressive and were looking for a referral for a new PCP; I suspect this is why she has so many available openings.
Excellent!! Thorough. Spends alot of time listening to a patient's needs.
Dr. Emsbo is very simply the best of the best.
Rigid in her approach to treatment, goes too quickly during appointments, does not foster patient/dr. relationship and medical staff is very difficult to understand due to language barriers. Support staff needs significant improvement with patients Rushed by medical assistants. Overall, awful experience.
Very kind, considerate, good followup. Thus said, it seems like she's missed the boat on diagnosing me. It has been a really frustrating experience for me. I definitely think I have an autoimmune condition. I also think she has dropped the ball.
I am certified as a patient advocate and I thank God that I found Dr. Emsbo.I have worked for doctors most of my life.I have multiple autoimmune diseases that have gone untreated by other physicians because they could not diagnose them to begin with. She is the smartest doctor I have ever known and quickly figures things out. She partners with you to find the best solutions for you and your body. I cannot say enough good things about her.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
