List of Stephen Kolnik's Reviews
Bea is fabulous - she has always taken care of my family's needs whether on phone or in person. She has also assisted with my ordering of contacts ensuring I was able to apply the best rebates and discounts to my order.
My family has been going to Dr Kolnik for years (15+!). He is professional, very helpful and a real gentleman.
Dr. Kolnik is the best! He is thorough, professional, and very kind. The best eye doctor I've ever had.
I have been a patient of Dr. Kolnik for over 25 years and my whole family has entrusted him with our care over that time. Dr. Kolnik always employs the latest technology, is extremely professional and I have always felt he eager to make sure I am comfortable with whatever product I want to use, either contact lenses or glasses.
NOTMyEyeDr! Had been willing to pay 3 X the amount for glasses because I presumed a small, independent business would be there when I needed help. Recently tried to visit but the door was locked with employees inside. A notice said to call for an appointment. Called many times and always got a recorded message they were helping other customers. Website suggests sending an email, but they ignored it. Maybe if I had written that I wanted to spend another $1500 they would have responded. Walked a short distance from there to Pearle Vision and was immediately greeted as if I had been a life-long customer, even though I had never been there before. The MyEyeDr/Optica combination seems to be the worst of both worlds: no service and highly inflated prices.
Limited selection & ill-tempered front desk. Visited this optician 3 times now, but won't be visiting again. Dr. Kolnik seems to be a nice person, but the two front desk girls seem mentally unhinged. When I came to pick-up my glasses, one of the girls demanded I tell her if I was "previously incarcerated" because of my insurance (Mass Health). Apparently the office provides free glasses, on behalf of the state, for former felons.I usually don't speculate, but in this instance it's safe to say that these girls think that every black person that walks into their office is a former felon. Bottom line: even if you're okay getting glasses from people with an antebellum mindset, their selection is so poor that it's not even worth the visit. Plenty of other, better, places in town!
I have gone to this place twice so far. First, for an eye exam last Saturday. To begin, I was very glad that I could get this appointment on a near weekend. Very convenient.. moreover, the staff and the optometrist were very accommodating and kind, for example Bia and Dr DennisSecond, yesterday I went there to order the new lenses that I need after my exam. Before going there, I tried two other optometrists that are closer to my house. But those two, unfortunately, did not accept my VSP plan and also did not offer many options. Here, however, they accepted my VSP plan, took a lot of time explaining to me and choosing with me among the different parameters, and eventually ordering my lenses. Once again, I received very good attention and service from two opticians, Bahram and Shirley. So, so far so good. I highly recommend them.
Being a patient anywhere is tricky, and there is a lot to weigh when thinking about the overall patient experience. Dr. Kolnik is a fantastic eye care provider; he is a good listener, thorough, intelligent, and a has a lot of knowledge and advice to share- all sound and has been a huge help. I've also been able to make appointments with him in a short amount of time compared to the average Doctor's office. However, his front desk has made multiple mistakes when I've used them to order contact lenses. They do not contact me about late shipments, they've given me the wrong contact lenses, they are unaware of what is in stock, and more recently I used my FSA card for reimbursement of a contact lens purchase there, and I needed to email the office back given the receipts they provide do not provide enough information for reimbursement. I will continue to see Dr. Kolnik but will not be making other purchases there.

***UNPROFESSIONAL, INSENSITIVE....He gave me contacts that I cannot see clearly out of and refused to see me further after 3 visits to give me an appropriate prescription. I'm a senior citizen, if it matters.I felt as if he had already got my money and just wanted to get rid of me at that point. He also overcharged me by quite a bit and I had to go to my insurance company to get my money back. He was abrupt and sarcastic the 3 times that I had seen him. I told him that I had already tried a certain brand before and that it was not effective. He ignored me and gave me the trial pair anyway.I heard him say "I'm not going to try a hundred contact lenses that's for sure" in the other room. He rushed me out each time that I saw him. He said the second time I had seen him to follow up- "I'm not going to try every single contact lense!!" and that I was probably meant to wear glasses. (I had been wearing contacts for many years) I feel as if I have been treated with much disregard! I am now stuck without appropriate contact lenses - with my insurance already used up!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
