Robert M. Weiss's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Weiss did my egg retrieval procedure. During a previous ER I experienced severe pain afterwards. Normally, they just tell you to take Motrin post procedure so I asked to speak with Dr. Weiss ahead of time about my previous experience. He was surprisingly dismissive of my concerns and said that hopefully it would be different this time. I said I didn't want to rely on hope as a strategy and asked if I could please have a prescription for something. For context, I have no personal or family history of addiction, outside of post-op prescriptions I have never taken prescribed pain medication, and I have a pretty good pain tolerance. He reluctantly wrote me a prescription. He must not write prescriptions very often because when I got to the pharmacy I was told that by law, that particular medication is required to be submitted electronically by the physician (this law was in effect for 18 months prior to my procedure.

I had two virtual meetings with Dr. Weiss both of which lasted about 10 min. He would not listen to the fact that my family has a significant history of infertility, and he was very condescending to me. He diagnosed me with PCOS before any testing was done. I requested my medical records and his notes stated my results suggested I had PCOS, even though I have no signs/symptoms and my test results showed no sign of PCOS. After a little research, I found articles written by him all about PCOS, which confirmed my opinion that he had a one track mindset and didn’t want to be bothered looking for the real problem. After the two virtual consults, everything was done by his nurses. I went through IUI and it was done by his nurse. I never met him in person during my entire experience going to FCNE.

I had a HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Weiss and his "care team". He has terrible bed side manners, was tardy for every appointment and was incredibly condescending to me. He had zero respect for my time being wasted and even had the audacity to schedule me for a procedure that I didn't even NEED only to inform me of that five minutes beforehand. Took time off of work for NOTHING or at most a three minute conversation where Dr Weiss read from the same script all one hundred times. Kept saying "there is no reason why this shouldn't work" then proceeded to overmedicate me to the point that a fresh embryo transfer was dangerous. Had to wait two months only to have three FAILED IVF transfers. Every meeting with him was like 50 First Dates where I was asked the same questions and he fed me to same BS for two years! Dr Weiss DISGUSTS ME and I wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy. FCNE is a complete waste of time and money. In fact, "traumatizing" I believe is the most fitting word. Thanks for NOTHING

Dr. Weiss is the worst doctor I have ever dealt with. Incessantly late, short uninformative meetings consisting of him asking me the same five questions over and over again. Did not check my charts before speaking wi th me and even had me come for a procedure that I didn't NEED but didn't inform me of this until I GOT THERE. So frustrating taking time off of work to go to a doctor's appointment just to be told "Whoops! Nevermind! You don't need to be here!" Hundreds of dollars and three FAILED IVF treatments later, I never once was under the impression that Dr Weiss cared whether I got pregnant or not so long as he is getting paid. He even had thr audacity to ask me "How did your last couple of implantations go? Good?" I had only had one done and HE PERFORMED IT! Just one example of him NEVER reading my charts before seeing me. Overmedicated, under counseled, over charged and now seeking treatment elsewhere as Dr Weiss REFUSED to be transparent with me. I wouldn't wish him or his "care team" on my worst enemy.

Only met him during initial contact. His nurses do all communicating and we never saw him again. He lied and told us my husband's SA was "perfect" and after 4 failed Clomid Timed Intercourse cycles, we asked for medical records and saw that he had a 95% abnormal morphology. We went through a lot of heartache, emotional and physical stress with the fertility medications for absolutely nothing. I would NEVER recommend him.

Though Endocrinologists specializing in infertility, menstrual, hormonal disorders - Dr. Weiss believed that there is no such thing as hormone disorders and repeatedly asserted that there are no ways to test female hormones. Provider believed women's brains cause cramps, did not know what LH,FSH, etc. were. SO he is either severely incompetent, discriminates against women, or willfully denies appropriate reasonable care based on medical facts. He was verbally abusive and physically aggressive, essentially sexually assaulted me. He was rude to me about my sexual orientation and marital status. Severely sexist. Disregarded my pain and and then began fisting and punching my genitals after I told him a regular exam hurt. Completely abusive. I felt traumatized and degraded by his conduct. He delayed and derailed my care without rational reason. DO NOT GO TO HIM!!!!!!!

Dr.Weiss is professional but lacks personal attention to individual cases. You can only do a successful IVF with him if you are lucky that everything goes in the right direction. He does not have any good advise for cases where things don't work out positive. He leaves the nurses to give instructions which are critical to egg retrieval. They just post things without explaining to the patient and when things go wrong, he doesn't care. I don't like that aspect where he is not accessible when needed to explain. This caused me three losses and had to leave him for another doctor. There's a very big gap between him and the patient. You only see him when he has a task to perform at that particular moment. For the rest of the cycle progress, you are on your own with these selfish nurses who care less. He is not interested in follow up with failed cases

I chose Dr. Weiss as my doctor for the IVF process and I think I made the right choice. Of course, the positive outcome of the procedure has a lot to do with my review; but there are other contributor factors. He conducted all the necessary tests and took the time to explain the results, as well as discuss any concerns with me. I was given the information I needed about the IVF process and procedures, including accurate pricing. The only thing I had to stress on was submitting the paperwork to my insurance (since, despite the fact that the doctor didn't think IVF would be covered, the insurance did actually end up picking up the tab for 90% of the total cost, medication included). Dr. Weiss's team was very friendly, hands on and always quick to answer my questions (even after office hours, which was extremely helpful). The doctor himself reached out to me when needed. So, overall, I had a great experience (in spite of the punishing IVF journey). If I had to do this aging, I'd definitely choose Dr. Weiss.

My wife and I were extremely happy with our experience with Dr. Weiss. He walked us through the process at each step and made sure to answer any questions we had. He was very professional and smart, but also very personable and spoke in layman's terms when appropriate, which I know I appreciated. He ultimately helped us conceive on our first attempt and we are now almost 7 months pregnant expecting our first baby girl! I would highly recommend Dr. Weiss to all my friends and family!

He explained the procedures I could pursue to conceive a child, but seemed pretty rushed and did not go into detail or ask me if I had any questions about the procedures. He did recommend a few good websites for further info, but the whole point of me taking time off from work and going to see him in person was to learn more about the actual procedures, the risks involved, the success rates in his practice etc. Also, the main reason my PCP sent me there was the fact that I was due for a paps. That, the doctor almost forgot to perform. When I specifically asked for it, I almost felt like he was ..doing me a favor. Must've been a busy day for him (although I was the only patient in the waiting room).
