David Wayne Deaton's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Deaton performed open heart surgery on me this last July 19th. I 'm 81 years old and this is a doctor that does nothing but cares deeply about his patients. I can't say enough about his nurses and office personnel. I have never met so many professionals that cared about and loved what they did. My best to Dr. Deaton and his whole staff.

18 years ago Dr. Deaton performed extensive surgery on my husband. Robert Underwood should have died from an aortic aneurysm that dissected. Instead Dr. Deaton repaired it in a 14 hour surgery that included the arch of the aorta. Bob is alive and healthy today. I thank you, Dr. Deaton, for the miracle you gave us. God works thru your hands.

Very compassionate and skilled.

I have 43+ yrs of experience in the medical field. That said, I have seen many skilled surgeons, it’s quite a rare find to come across a skilled surgeon, who also has a reassuring personality. During a frearful, anxious & uncertain time, Dr Deaton is quick to deliver comforting words as well as a detailed explanation, in laymen’s terms of the situation at hand. On 3 separate occasions Dr Deaton reached out to wife asking if she had any questions. She did not, his response was, “You know how to reach me, if you do.’ His office staff are equally people friendly, while providing excellent follow up care.

Very happy with the surgical team at Baystate. Dr. Deaton spent quite a bit of time with us prior and after the surgery explaining the issues, options, and expected outcome. Personable enough to talk with us on our level but with a confidence about him that is unmatched. 4 weeks after and the going is slow but time, nutrition, exercise, and the media are helping. After this experience with his team and Baystate, and the many hours researching other options; I would not hesitate to recommend them over any other group in the state.

First visit.Had to wait 35 minutes while listening to him planning a trip. (Personal not for business)He asks what I am doing here and how I am doing... I am there because it is determined I need a double bypass and a valve repair, what does that mean? How does he think I am feeling?Was not impressed with his personality or lack of it. Has no compassion or not from what I could see anyway.He saw me twice after the surgery which was Oct. 26. After that I saw his assistant, or other colleagues. He has not asked in six months how I am doing. I have seen other associates. I have had a very slow recovery not one good day of health in almost six months. I have received no sympathy or apologies, just always the same old comment "Thats because of your surgery." Like "Suffer fool"I was healthier before the surgery.
