.This professional urologist is not competitive. The arrogant air of him wrestling with partners and patients. he is not a good listener. I was trying to imagine his arrogance, but he was supposed to go deep in my pathology. Too much for me
I have had a family member under his care for about 7 or 8 yrs. Always professional and always caring. Sometimes runs late, but I would never say he was rude or standoffish as above. Certainly not an oaf. Normal guy who is interested in his patients. Not sure what more you could ask for....
Dr. Starkman himself is a great doctor. However, the staff at the front office are the absolute worst! 2 times I was told to come in with a full bladder for a "Flow Test." The first time I was told that I was too early and to return 45 minutes later. I had confirmed my appointment time 2x prior to my appointment date. Since I could not hold my bladder for 45 minutes I had to reschedule. The second time I showed up at my appointment 5 minutes prior to the appointment time, per their instructions, and was told that I have to wait outside until a nurse calls me. I hadn't even checked in yet so how was a nurse going to know to call me. I also arrived with a full bladder, again, per their instructions. I exited the building and called the office from outside, (while doing the "potty dance" in the parking lot,) and waited on hold for 10 minutes. When they answered I was told to come in, that I didn't need to wait. I got in and after checking in as well as explaining that I have been holding my bladder and had to go NOW I was told to wait! 15 minutes had passed and I told them again that I cannot hold my bladder any longer. "Someone will be right out to get you." Nope. I had to run to a bathroom in the hallway because I had started to pee my pants! I came out of the bathroom thoroughly humiliated and informed the staff that they were too late. I tried calling doctor Starkman about this but never got passed the front office workers. I told them that their actions were disgusting and un-empathetic when I was told not to curse at them. (???) I tried to tell them that I had peed my pants because of their actions and a small amount of empathy would be nice, but the women only cared that I had used the word "disgusting." Absolutely no concern or care that I was humiliated and had to go home and change. Only cared that I said "disgusting." I asked that Dr. Starkman call me. I'm absolutely sure that he was never given my call request. Sorry Dr. Starkman, you are great, unfortunately Baystate saddled you with uncaring, disgusting, front office staff.
I am under the care of doctor starkman and his office. I find doctor starkman to be patient, knowledgeable, empathetic, explains everything, answers all your questions and takes his time. I highly recommend doctor starkman. His office staff is just as compassionate and helpful.
I had a great experience with Dr. Starkman. Super professional and explains everything thoroughly. He performed a pretty big surgery on me and I’d go back for another one with him if I needed it.
I don’t know but I hear he’s horrible and I’ve keft messages at their practice THREE TIMES now requesting a new patient office visit. They called me after my first message but left a voicemail and since then I’ve had to call back twice and leave messages again. I’m about to give up! He seems like an oaf too and is there anyone you’d recommend besides him?
I found Doctor Starkman very caring and professional. He performed surgery on me and at the present time I never felt better. I would highly recommend him to family and friends
I highly recommend Dr. Starkman, he has given me back a portion of my life that we all take for granted. He is a "no sugar coated" kind of doctor who will tell you the truth no matter what. I had a surgery for an unrelated condition that left me unable to urinate on my own at all (chronic bladder retention) due to nerves cut around my bladder. I was left on a Foley catheter for over a year, because I could also not feel or know when my bladder was full. He was the only doctor who could figure out some sort of solution to help besides being stuck with an indwelling catheter for the rest of my life. I am slowly regaining the ability to urinate after this procedure (still need to cath but I can now feel when my bladder is full and able to void naturally a decent amount). He is the only doctor to suggest, take the time and try to help with success. He even warned me this was the only possible option to help and it wasn't a guarantee. I'm someone with a lot of health issues and tend to have Drs sugar coat or put the problem on others. Again, I highly recommend him (so much so that I travel over an hour and fifteen minutes to see him)!
I visited Dr. Starkman with my daughter. His beside manner made us very uncomfortable. We found him to be extremely blunt, to the point of being rude. Not sure what his problem is but we are not going back.
HORRIBLE. I have reoccurring UTI's and I've been seeing Dr. Starkman for a while. Each time I've seen him, he is usually stand offish and doesn't like to talk yet alone look you in the eye. At my appointment today, he basically told my mother to take a chill pill and said that I was anorexic which made no sense because I told him I had been on antibiotics that had made me throw up. I would not recommend spending anyone's time with this doctor. I thought doctors were supposed to answer questions

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
