List of Walden Behavioral Care - Waltham Clinic's Reviews
This place is what I would consider hell on earth. They rotted all my adult teeth, gave me ptsd and ignored my rare stomach disorder causing my stomach to become paralyzed. They gaslighted me and my parents, and wouldn’t release me from the hospital. My parents had no control and I was stuck in a hospital being fed food I couldn’t digest, developing cavities that would continue to rot years later from the sugary Powerade I was forced to drink multiple times a day. This place shouldn’t be in business its an abusive facility.
I was in the adolescent residential program. They didn't address my binge eating disorder issues and they sent me home after just 13 days. Their outpatient program was nice, but family-based therapy (FBT) is not for everyone and they don't understand that. When I stopped having my parents feeding me, I relapsed. Go somewhere that supports the intuitive eating model.
i was admitted to walden from the hospital in October 2021. i had spent 3 weeks at the hospital waiting for a bed. the intake lady was very nice she helped my parents and me a few months before this i was at cedc i had spent 9 weeks there and it was not a very fun or helpful stay i was the only 12 hear old at the time and my roommate was 17 but getting back to walden they admitted me at like 10 or 11 at night over my time there i had to be restrained twice during one restrain my foot was twitted and was crying and begging them to at least loosen one of the restraints after a few minutes they did i still cry when i think about that also my roommate constantly lied to me and lied to the others she said that i told her i was 14 when in reality she said i looked like i 14 once she stole one of my hoodies and gave it to another patient i got it back eventually. during school time they lent me computer and i was doing school work then they said i was not allowed on the computer because of unsafe behavior when i actually needed it because i had missed 3 months of school last year they gave it to another girl who literally watched shawn mendes music videos and played solitaire anyways they waited a week before giving me and ng tube during my time there i had to get an ng tube 5 times one of the five times my ng tube fell out ruining my clothes another time they gave me a nose bleed then gave up almost everyone there had an ng tube i was well away that i was not the skinnyist but was it really necessary for some of the girls to wear tights and tank tops and i was not allowed to wear shorts TO BED nobody would see me i made one friend then my roomate decided to steal her did she really think this was mean girls 3 another time i was making a phone call to my crush at the time we where joking about getting restrained . the next day i meet with my cm and she says who where you calling i say nobody then she yells at me and makes me cry then she takes away my phone privileges ITS NOT EVEN A REAL PHONE its the floor phone so anyway im reading the paients rights or whatever and i see something like patients are allowed to have privae phone calls or staff is not allowed to listen to phone calls and im like holyy shhh- i go to one of the girls and im like are you seeing this she says yes one of my biggest regrets was not showing my cm that like girl i could sue you anyways we only got tv after 4 and it was always what the older patients wanted to watch one day they decided to watch martha speaks i was down so they turn on an episode guess what episode it was marthas starving as an anorexic i found it funny everyone did hahaha but not the staff lets say we where only aloud to watch disney plus after that anyways like everyone got restrained multiple times a day there was constant screaming winch would trigger some people i have to say it a a poop show if ykow what i mean so anyways they where also obsessed with taylor swift and im not making this up 7 times in 4 days we watch the reputation tour another thing was that i was not allowed vists off floor i was so lonely and tbh being there made me want to kms even more it ruined my relationship with my mom i still dont live with her bceause of the gaint fight we got into there and my realationship with my other parent is fine but i dont think ill be the same person i was pre walden my adivce is to skip impatient one my roomates at resi went from the hospital to resi then ton php then iop also my nose is still bruised im less then 10 days away from turning 13 this spast year has had the most highs and lows xoxo gossip girl
A friend of mine who is in there hears the other KIDS banging there heads up against the wall and screaming- The rooms are like jail cells they are locked from the outside. They take all the patients things. Parents can only see there kid for ONE hour a week. If you read this please do not put your child through this, they WILL suffer long term issues like PTSD.
disgusting doesnt even begin to cover what goes on in this place
dont get me wrong!! some parts r so good like tyler the mch!!! he genuinly has helped me so much and i dont know where i would be here without him. i came from the waldon residential and from that expirience i know how helpful meal coaching can be. but here especially with virginia a clinition she would yell and get literally mad and sarcasting at my opionions on things as trivial as tv shows. she often acts like a literal 5 year old and made my time here and expiriences around food stressful and so much worse. she also wouldnt let us talk unless we were eating as fast as she would like, which since it is an eating disorder center would not always be able to happen. instead of helping us, she would get angry or sarcastic and at least for me was very triggering as things like that have happened in my past and it made meal times so much worse and triggering. she desperately needs to be fired or at the very least taught what to do, since she very clearly doesnt understand that we are real people, real children and not just a disorder she has to manage.
"Another day in paradise." Would give max negative stars if i could. Everyone with bad reviews, i believe and sympathize with them 100%. I was committed into inpatient at Walden's for "ED treatment" three times from age 14-17, thanks to poor insurance. I always stayed for 1.5-2 weeks at a time. All my stays there did not help me at all. Actually made me worse. I would continuously be sent home just because i reached their "ideal weight for me" and relapsed once home. The place did not feel safe at all. I confided in other patients for the most helpful advice. NO staff was caring or helpful at the least. Not to mention the eerie feel there in general. Nasty carpets, holes in walls, etc). Also the traumatized patients would basically be told to scream it out in their rooms and wake others up at night. My last stay there, no one tried waking me up for my dinner (i'm a light sleeper, i'd know) so they woke me after midnight and told me i must drink an ensure No exceptions. Just for questioning this they immediately brought the feeding tube out, started shoving it up my nose and down my throat, then in one fast pump filled me with ensure before pulling the tube back out from my stomach to nose with a forceful pull. It hurt mentally and physically. When my mother tried to talk to someone about what happened NO ONE would give her answers. OH and When i was discharged they "lost" my vans hightops saying they didn't know where they went. Was sent out in hospital socks while it was pouring. DO NOT SEND/RECOMMEND ANYONE HERE IF YOU LOVE THEM AND DO NOT WANT TO SEE THEM SUFFER MORE THAT THEY ALREADY ARE. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT COMITT YOURSELF HERE.
I felt like the dropped me when I needed them the most. It started off as a nice program, but I continued to struggle with me eating disorder. They basically told me I either had to go inpatient, which I couldn't do, because I had a parent who was in and out of the hospital/health deteriorating or we can't help you. So of course, I chose my family and Walden discharged me with my symptoms being at their worst. They didn't even give a referral to another provider.
If you want to be able to get help for your eating disorder please look into other options. This place is highly unprofessional Issues I had during my stay:*The way they handle meals...they have you eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day, which is to be expected...what I did not expect however was after I tried extremely hard to finish what meals and snacks I was given to NOT be given a simple "good job!" Or any kind of recognition that you are trying to get better...nope. Even after finishing almost everything on my plate someone comes over and simply asks what flavor Ensure I want and then have it plunked in front of me...it did not matter if all I had left on my plate was broccoli I was given the same amount of Ensure that I was expected to finish as someone who did not touch their meal at all...tell me how that makes any sense calories/health wise? Also do NOT expect to be given any healthy meals during your stay here. Our snacks consisted solely of Oreos, Rice Crispy Treats, Teddy Grahams, doughnuts...all absolute junk. We were not taught how to be healthy here....the goal was to simply over feed so you can get the hell out.*The group "therapy"... the way the groups work is you have several per day...the majority of groups held consisted of being given a worksheet, told to fill it out and think on it, and then leave. There was no sharing of emotions or experiences. They are so worried about upsetting anyone in the group that you are EXTREMELY limited in what you can actually talk about...how is filling out a worksheet going to help me overcome my eating disorder I've had for almost 15 years??...if it was that easy why would I go to a facility? We go to places like this to have a safe space to talk about our disorders...having an eating disorder is already something stigmatized which makes you feel like you need to feel shame over having an eating disorder, and this clinic that is supposedly here to help with our disorders is perpetuating that shame ten fold. We are told not to talk about it like we SHOULD be ashamed of ourselves.*Unprofessional... this place is run almost entirely by women straight out of college while also being seriously understaffed. One Saturday we had ONE woman for the entire ward. One...They promise one on one therapy and meal plan discussions, BUT they are so understaffed that that all goes by the wayside. They also accidentally gave me another patient's medication! Whoops! Don't know how that could happen with professionals working there...but it did! Thank god I wasn't allergic to this other patients medication...I'm still in such disbelief that that occurred...You also better hop you don't have a full time job that will require any sort of paperwork to be sent to for your stay there because this place almost entirely refuses to send anything out to your employer. I have been trying for a week now to get them to simply send in a SIGNATURE...no huge form...just trying to get an MD's SIGNATURE and NO ONE will help me. I have left multiple voicemails and emails and am getting nowhere fast....this is highly unprofessional and they are potentially getting of the way of my livelihood...what could be more unprofessional than that? This is coming from a place that I reached out to and trusted to HELP me...not make my eating disorder WORSE and mess with my career. If you want help PLEASE seek a different clinic/company. This place will not help you.
Terrible. They are more interested in the business $ than doing what’s right for the patient. The team has no interest in working with the parents of adolescents. They do whatever they want with your child. AVOID
