Newton Wellesley Dermatology Associates, P.C's Online Review Report Card

This place diagnosed me with androgenic alopecia, and all they told me about the diagnosis was that these Nutrafol pills they’re getting paid to push will fix it. Didn’t tell me what it was caused from, or offer any other solutions. when i did some research about it, i found out not only is it $88 for a month supply (4 horse pills a day), but the data had been cherry picked from participants likely to regrow hair, and other clinical studies had been buried without publishing them, most likely hiding unfavorable results. when i returned to the office and told the doctor I hadn’t tried them because they cherry picked their data, she told me “ALL studies cherry pick their data.” Excuse me, what? That’s not how science works and almost made me laugh. it is WILDLY CONCERNING that a medical professional is telling patients that all data from (medical) studies are cherry picked while trying to make commission off of a bullshit supplement. I went to a rheumatologist for other issues, and he explained this diagnosis to me in much greater detail, explaining it wasn’t genetic but hormone based, and that if i started taking birth control it would probably grow back. It did. And to boost my hair growth I did plenty of my own research, and found a multitude of PROVEN ways to regrow hair, and how you need a specific enzyme for minoxidil to work, which a majority of people don’t have, meaning you need to use something else in combination. And to think I could’ve wasted so much time, money, and distress on a supplement given to me by a medical professional that she knows doesn’t do anything. DONT GET SCAMMED BY NUTRAFOL!!

I am shocked by the negative reviews here! I completed my 3rd visit with Newton Wellesley Dermatology yesterday, each with Ms. Marya Woodruff Ochs who I highly recommend. My first visit was for an annual body skin check where a biopsy was performed on a suspicious spot and thankfully negative. The next two visits were for cosmetic purposes, specifically the freezing of sun spots on my face. I returned because I was so very pleased with the dramatic results of the first visit. Not only was I pleased with the expertise of Ms. Ochs, but for the efficiency of this office during each of my three visits! Thank you, staff members, for your highly professional care!

Stay away from this place. Incompetent and unprofessional. I had an appointment to have a questionable moles examined. First of all, the doctor ended up removing the wrong thing! And did so with a simple scalpel that was painful, took months to heal and left a nasty scar. Months later I get an unsolicited email about services, through the MGB Patient Gateway! Seriously!? Junk and spam mail through a portal that is supposed to be for communicating with your health care providers about your health? Any office that resorts to this kind of gorilla marketing doesn't deserve anyone's business. If could give zero stars, I would. You have many, many dermatologist choices I the greater Boston area, don't waste your time here.

Short Version: 10/10 would recommend coming here!!! Long Version: In late June, I found a new mole that looked VERY suspicious. Naturally I went straight to the internet and diagnosed myself with skin cancer. I called this office because Dr. Kim was listed as a provider who uses something called DermTech (sticker biopsy). I had a very specific request to use this method to biopsy the mole, since I have a history of fainting, I wanted to avoid any and all needles. At first they told me that Dr. Kim was booking out a few months. I stressed to them my anxiety about the way this mole looked. They heard my concerns and got me seen a week later. After taking one look at the mole, Dr. Kim agreed to do the sticker test, per my request, but given my family history of melanoma, she encouraged me to have the mole biopsied regularly. Fast forward, the mole was pre-cancerous and needed to be excised to get bigger margins. I was absolutely terrified. I was set up with an appointment to see Dr. Do for the excision. I could not have asked for a better team to work with. Before the procedure began, I asked Dr. Do to take whatever he thought was necessary to avoid a secondary excision. He drew out a bunch of different approaches, and even tried to preserve areas of my tattoo surrounding the mole. Dr. Do and his medical assistants walked me through the whole procedure and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Given my anxiety and history with fainting, they let me sing Hamilton and even brought someone in to hold my hand. Bedside manner is everything and they have mastered it!!!

There are several hundred dermatologists in the metro Boston area. Save yourself a lot of pain and money and see anyone else!! Dr. Goldaber treated a skin issue with MOES surgery, that, come to find out, could have been treated topically (for much less money, of course). Then, he mistreated an ongoing cyst issue: I finally sought treatment from another, much better, more responsive, dermatologist, who said that it could have been treated months ago with a steroid injection, which he performed that day, ending the issue for good. Unfortunately, I endured endless amounts of discomfort, until I left Dr. Goldaber's practice. And then, there's the billing department: if you have an issue, forget it. The rudest person I've ever dealt with in my life. Seriously. Go. Somewhere. Else.

Literally no one picks up the phone there. Whenever I have to call them for something, it's an ordeal. This morning I spent about 35 minutes trying to get through to their front desk. It's a JOKE!!! I live about 35 minutes away. I might as well just drive over there during the time I am on hold. Will try again this afternoon after I calm down. Horrible customer service.

Agreed with Alix Campbell on Google Reviews. Seems like after five whole years, the service is still awful. Absolutely no concern for the patients from the front desk staff. I showed up for my appointment which I had waited six months for just to be told someone had canceled it. The amount of apathy from the woman at the front desk was insane. Awful experience.

Great office for your dermatological needs. Received top notch exam from Dr. Michael Goldaber and had to follow up with Dr. Di Do. Great service from both physicians! The medical staff was extremely attentive me I received a follow up call from Dr. Do on Saturday afternoon to check on my recovery. No one does that these days. Thanks for such great service from everyone!

I am very grateful to Ms. Campanella and how she has helped and continues to help my family and I throughout the years. She is attentive and always takes the time during appointments to explain the course of treatment in detail. She is the only dermatologist I would ever trust with my skin!

Ms. Campenella is the best dermatological clinician. She is professional, thorough and caring. She has made some difficult, accurate diagnoses and prescribed appropriate treatment. She is rarely late for appointments, and takes her time! Highly recommend!
