William E Shay's Online Review Report Card

Probably the best Doctor I've ever had. He is knowledgeable, kind, and is an all around good person. Goes out of his way for his patients, and I couldn't ask for a better Doctor.

Dr Shay was my doctor when I lived in NYC from 1993-95 & again 2003-2010. Anyone who gets to be his patient is so lucky. His insight, his intelligence, breadth of knowledge, kind demeanor & wonderful humor are so welcome. He's the lofty standard by which I judge all medical personnel since! Delighted to see his office now in Provincetown & I'll mention it to friends out there although I'm sure, like NYC, he has plenty of patients! He was also a champion & hero when the AIDS pandemic hit NY. Grateful to him for all he did for me for just general things & for all those who needed him for bigger ones.

His skill level is probably adequate, but down deep, I really don’t think Dr. Shay is a nice person. While his quirkiness can appear to be charming at the outset, there is way too much evidence of unprofessionalism for comfort. Because his frustration tolerance is low, both quality and quantity of care suffers inordinately. I complained to Dr. Shay’s employer Outer Cape Health Services about how he unjustifiably alienated me. Despite what in hindsight were repeated efforts on his part to do so, I was his patient for quite a few years. While I made sure they listened to my substantiated complaints, in the end he apparently was never even reprimanded for what in most any other health clinic setting would have surely been grounds for dismissal. The only possible logical reason that Dr. Shay wanted me to seek care elsewhere was that I asked very good and challenging questions and also that I had multiple serious health conditions. Sadly, I was the only one who suffered from the injustices.

Great doctor, very knowledgeable and gets in depth with anwsers to questions you may have about your condition. Goes out of his way to make sure his patients are doing well. Couldn't ask for a better doctor.

Dr. Shay is is gift to this community. Available, attentive, genuine, professional are four attributes that come immediately to mind. Only negative in that office is the representative from Quest who takes all labs. Gosh, she is just plainly said a MISERABLE human being!!!!!!!!

Dr Shay is literally the best doctor I've been to, out of any primary and specialist. He has taken the time to get to know me and see the whole person, not just the medical chart, like many doctors make you feel. He's listened, trusted and shown compassion when others haven't. I have an extremely complicated medical issue and he's taken me on as a new patient and put in the time and effort to help me get better. I'm lucky to have found him.

Dr Shay is a funny qauirky doc who really has the patient's welfare on the top of his agenda. I have found him smart, a great listener, and ready to take the time to listen to all of your needs. Highly recommend!
