John Frangie's Online Review Report Card

Was a patient of Dr Camerota, she left and they no longer take VSP insurance, so I found another Dr. elsewhere, asked them to forward my records. They want to charge $25 to fax records b/c I am leaving them. Not by choice but b/c my Dr left and you don't take my insurance so why should I have to pay $25!!

They are absolutely amazing. Very professional and I am so happy with my Lasik results.

Just had cataract surgery and Dr. Frangie put in a high-tech, multi-focal Vivity replacement lens for me. Beautiful results -- I am able to see both near and far without glasses. Dr. Frangie and his staff spent considerably more time with me than my previous ophthalmologist (who did cataract surgery on my other eye a year and a half ago), making sure they obtained accurate measurements and assessments of my eye. When I had my first eye done for a cataract at my previous doctor (a well-known and well-respected, local office), they somewhat rushed me to make a decision and didn't give me much useful advice about which type of focus would be best for me or what type of lens. Also, for a month or more after the surgery, it seemed that I would still need some kind of corrective operation like LASIK because they had over-corrected with the lens and left me far-sighted. But my doctor couldn't perform LASIK, so he suggested I might have to go to Dr. Frangie. Fortunately, after several months, my eye improved enough that I didn't end up needing corrective surgery. When it came time for my second eye to be done, I was thinking about going to Dr. Frangie because he can do *both* cataract surgery and LASIK. Then my neighbor had cataract surgery from the same office I had gone to for my first cataract surgery, and had significant problems. The doctor referred her to Dr. Frangie to try to rectify the problem because they couldn't figure out what the problem was. That caught my attention. So, I decided to go for an appointment with Dr. Frangie, to see if I felt more confident with him. In the mean time, I spoke with a good friend who is a doctor at Baystate as well as my own primary care physician, and they both recommended Dr. Frangie. The experience was first-rate in all respects, as I mentioned above. Dr. Frangie and his technician were methodical and meticulous while being very personable. And while I waited in the waiting room, yet another patient came in and said they had come from the very same office I had previously gone to, and they also sent him to see Dr. Frangie about a problem they were unable to correct. If I had any remaining doubt, that completely settled it for me. I booked the cataract surgery with Dr. Frangie that day and they got me in about 3 weeks later. Then I had all my records moved over to him from my previous doctor. My wife and rest of my family are doing likewise. Dr. Frangie is the eye doctor that eye doctors send their difficult cases to. That should tell you all you need to know. I couldn't recommend him more highly.

I just had my left eye cataract surgery done yesterday. My issue was compounded because I also have the early stages of glaucoma. So something needed to be added into the eye to provide continuous drainage. (I don't really know how the "sausage was made.") That's why you go to a surgeon like John Frangie. Great skill and the staff is so competent. Long story short...I went to my post-op appointment today...a day after my surgery. They tested my left eye and it was 20/20. A month ago, I couldn't even read the third line down. Even better...last night, no pain the same night as the surgery. Can't wait to get the other eye done next month. Highly recommend this practice to anyone looking to start seeing again like a teenager. :)

I am very disappointed with Dr. Frangie. I thought I would receive better treatment. I was left untreated with a rare condition in my left eye that requires surgery and he is the only surgeon in the area that performs what I need.

Would not recommend due to terrible service by front office. They neglected to tell me something very important. When I got to the office, they told me I could not be seen that day.

Run from this place. I have never received such horrible customer service from a doctor's office. I called with an emergency and they told me the earliest the could see me is in three months. I am two weeks away from the appt and the issue is much worse. I called begging for an appt. The office staff did not show one ounce of empathy and said they couldn't see me. I confirmed my upcoming appt which is 2 weeks away and they laughed and told me Dr. Camarotta no longer works there and they won't be able to see me then. I am done with this office. Oh and one star is too many!

He may be a great doctor but his office staff is a disgrace. I had an emergency and his office staff would not schedule me an appointment. The earliest appointment I could get was two months away. Found another doctor who said my issue could have been resolved quickly had I been seen. Stay away from this practice.

He may be a good doctor but his office staff is rude and uncaring. I had an issue with me eye and needed an emergency appt. They made me wait two months. Things got worse and they refused to help me. Office manager did not have one ounce of empathy. One star is too many for this practice.

This office has the worst customer service I have ever experienced in a doctors office. Had a problem with my eye and was told they could see me in two months. I set an appt for two months away. Lived with it for awhile but my eye got worse. Called and asked for an emergency appointment. They would not see me and told me my doctor had left the practice. I asked if my upcoming appt scheduled two weeks from now was still valid. They laughed and said no. I again expressed this was an emergency and begged to be seen this week. They said no. I would never recommend this office. Oh and one star is too many
