Samir Patel Md's Online Review Report Card

After months of grief from his billing office I got a call out of the blue from the office manager. I thanked her for calling me. She informed me that they were refunding the overpayment. And shortly afterwards I received a check in the mail. In a review of my account they explained that I had also overpaid for the pathology services. I didn't ask for an explanation of what took so long but I am very happy to have all of these billing irregularities resolved. I can't find a way to alter the ratings. I'm not saying that a 5 is deserved but it certainly should be a 3 or 4.

Found Dr. Patel friendly, not arrogant at all, and spent a lot of time with me. I certainly didn't feel rushed and I had a lot of questions. As for getting to the cause of my problem, neither he, or any other doctors have been able to diagnose that. He did, however, uniquely prescribe a compound that helped relieve my symptoms. I had more problems with the practice itself though. They seem disjointed when delivering patient care as a team and often information isn't passed along as needed.

I am very sorry I trusted Dr. Sumir M. Patel. I did a self-pay, paid in advance colonoscopy. I paid him in advance. After the procedure he decided he wanted more money. The procedure went normal and there was nothing unexpected. In and out. Now I have to take him to court to get the opinion of a judge. He is threatening to damage my credit score.

DISHONEST AND DECEIVING.I was referred to Dr. Sumir M Patel by my primary for a routine preventive colonoscopy. New to Arizona so my first doctor office visits in AZ. He asked for my medical history and then he billed me as non-preventive due to past removal of Polyps - that I had removed 8 years ago. What was supposed to be a routine screening, turned out to be thousands of dollars in bills for the colonoscopy alone! BEFORE the procedure, I called his office and left a message for Carla. Carla called and left a message for me, which I still have, stating that there would NO out-of-pocket costs for this routine colonoscopy screening but I'm still fighting back and forth with Dr. Patel on re-coding so that my insurance will cover it - it was preventive after all. He coded it as "past history of Polyps" but he would not have known about that IF he has not asked about my history. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GO TO DR. SUMIR PATEL'S OFFICE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO PAY OUT-OF-POCKET FOR PREVENTIVE SERVICES THAT ARE COVERED BY INSURANCE. What a racket! I am posting this on every website I can find and reporting him to the BBB, medical board, and whom/where ever else I can. People need to know about his unethical practices, and he needs to be stopped.

I hadn't had my primary doctor yet when I called Blue cross blue shield ( who were the best insurance provider ever)! They said be sure to tell the doctor that you are approved self directed colonoscopy as part of your physical since I was over 50. I told his staff then I told him about 5 times!...Yet, I got a bill for exploratory and they refused to recode. He said he asked me if I ever had this or that gas pain etc etc ,,,The kind of questions I wondered why he was asking when I said I just want to do the physical . I then find out after why so many bills were not covered. I would not have known but was coached by the good lady at Blue Cross and was very careful ..Despite that they just held there ground as I had bills like " a second nurse etc and using a building at a differ location "off site fee"!! Its a racket , Look careful do your due diligence anyone can obtain a few good reviews see, Dr reviews . They make you sign your life away ...Beware!

I am wondering if everyone who gave Dr. Patel a less than favorable rating is speaking of the same physician. My visit was an awesome experience. Dr. Patel was professional, courteous, warm, kind and most of all very informative. He was a breathe of clean fresh air. He was very unlike the many physicians I have seen for my illness.

I accepted the first doctor who was available. He was not helpful at all and was very arrogant. This is 2018 and he is referring to data written by someone from Harvard in 1991 as the utmost in current care. He left us saying the AAMC infectious disease dr. was wrong and he was right. Much like six year old child.

Dr Patel has been my primary care physician for over 6 years and I'm very happy with the care I've received from him. I don't ever have to wait more than 20-25 minutes; and with the renovations done to the office in the last year, this place looks better than ever!

Not helpful at all. Arrogant and rude. Went to visit dr after searching for one online.

After many many years of seeing another GI we loved, we were having too many issues getting an appointment so I wanted to move to get a fresh look at my husbands multiple issues. We waited for three weeks to see this Dr. and we went yesterday, filled out all the paper work only to be told to "go back to your original GI Dr.". I have never seen anyone refuse a customer like this. I explained we were trying to get a fresh look and he said "you need to go back to the Dr. that has seen him before". He didn't even flinch, just dismissed us. He didn't even touch my husband. It took longer to fill out the forms than it did talking to this man. I'm shocked that a physician would refuse to see a new patient. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone.
