List of James Bernheimer's Reviews
Dr. Bernheimer is the best. He has excellent bedside manners and extremely patient. I started seeing Dr. Bernheimer over a year ago. When I walked into his office, I was very discouraged because I had seen four different specialist and they were unable to diagnose/treat me and I continued to be bounced from one specialist to another. Dr. Bernheimer conducted a nerve study test on me and was able to explain everything he was doing and he explained what was currently going on with my nerves. I remember crying to him and saying I wanted to know the root of my condition w/a resolution and I was tired of going from one specialist to another. It was at that time, Dr. Bernheimer looked me in my eyes (with compassion) and said “my search was over.” He said “I will stay with you through this process until we get to the root of your nerve condition.” He ordered additional test and bloodwork and I waited patiently for the results to return. A week later, I received a phone call personally from Dr. Bernheimer (not a staff) stating he had good news and bad news. The good news was he knew the root of my nerve condition and the bad news was it was a rare condition and there was no known cure for it. However, that did not stop Dr. Bernheimer, he arranged for me to be admitted into the hospital for a possible treatment and to receive physical therapy while in the hospital. My five days in the hospital, Dr. Bernheimer came to check up on me faithfully. I continued having follow-ups with Dr. Bernheimer for months after the treatment and therapy. It is due to his level of expertise that I am all better today. I am forever grateful that God guided me to Dr. Bernheimer and I am forever grateful for the outstanding medical treatment he gave me while I was under his care. He is and will always be “The Best” Neurologist specialist in my book!!! Sabrina B.~~~
Have had two appointments with Dr. Bernheimer and have been dissatisfied with both. He does not show compassion at all to the severity of the medical issue and is very vague in his findings and explanations. I am waiting weeks in between visits and testing in order to determine a diagnoses. His bedside manner is poor.
Whoever the secretary at GBMC location is a disgusting and rude person to talk with. I was trying to make a new patient appt and from the beginning she answered the phone by, How can I help you? she couldn't even say good morning!!! She made me give her all my information, when I first ask her when was the first available appt for?. After giving her all my info, she says the next appt is for a month. And all I said was, "OH WOW" and she raised her voice and started saying well you can't expect to get an appt for tomorrow and if you can wait that long than you should go see your primary Doctor. I was shocked the whole entire call but this just toped it off. I work in the medical field with Customer services and I'm sorry but if I treat my former or/and future patients like this I deserve to be fired. For sure I will not be making any appts to see Doctor James H. Bernheimer. Someone needs to address this issue because this is causing this practice lots of patients probably. :-( Thank You.
Dr. Bernheimer is great!!!!! I had seizures all the time. Since I’ve been seeing him 4 years ago I haven’t had one. I would highly recommend him he’s very thorough.
Was referred to him in 2014 because my lip was jerking and I had tremors. He did basic motor skills test and said everything was fine. Was just told I possibly had a mini stroke. Wanted to go see him, and he said he saw me 4 years ago. There's no need to see him again. Now I'm left looking for a new doctor who I don't know. I think him and my primary care provider have found ways to beat the insurance company. They sent me to see him first, then another doctor who was supposed to be "the best neurologist". He asked me a few questions and sent me back to Bernheimer who said everything was ok. It's a terrible feeling having to look for new doctors when you're dangerously sick. They don't care, but the insurance company and public will when i'm done with them.
My experience with Dr. Bernheimer was fantastic. I have a fairly uncommon neurological condition that takes many years to diagnose for most patients, but he diagnosed me on our first meeting. He is quiet, but he is extremely thorough and takes impeccable notes. The only reason I stopped seeing him was because I moved out of state. Every time I have to share his notes with a new physician, they are always impressed with the detail and clarity of his notes and diagnosis. I highly recommend him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
