List of Marcia Canto's Reviews
I went to her for gastro problems that I knew had nothing to do with my weight. She took one look at me and said "All your problems would go away if you lost weight" and told me there wasn't anything she could do for me except recommend me a gym, despite me trying to explain my symptoms. I went to a different GI doc, had an endoscopy, and discovered I have a defect in my esophageal muscles causing the issues -- completely unrelated to my weight.
I AM A CARDIOLOGIST IN DELAWARE AND TRAVEL TO SEE DR. CANTO SINCE SHE IS TOP NOTCH
I saw Dr. Canto for trouble swallowing/GERD. She conducted multiple biopsies on my esophagus. Follow up has been horrendous. 1) She has her RN (Carrie Baumann) respond to all questions submitted on MyChart. It's a terrible game of telephone. Neither Dr. Canto nor the RN are interested in helping the patient interpret test results. It feels like they want patients to take orders & go away. Every question has to be asked 2-3 times to get a real answer. Information is not shared proactively. 2) I asked to discuss a specific course of treatment (food elimination). The doctor is totally dismissive. Dr. Canto and/or Nurse Baumann said "Most adults cannot manage this schedule." I'm an individual patient, not a statistic. If there is an approved course of treatment, I expect a real conversation. Not a version of shut-up-and-take-this-medicne for the rest of your life. Johns Hopkins is supposedly world-class. I expect real listening skills & collaboration, not old-school Doctor Knows Best.

Without Dr. Canto my mother would not be a 15 year survivor. I lost my father, uncle, sister, and grandma to PC. I would not see anyone else. I am in her PC study and every year when I see her, she makes it a point to check on me.
Doesn't give details about results, reasoning for suggested treatment, and frankly doesn't seem to care about the patient. Orders extra expensive tests with no explanation, leaving me to simply trust her expertise.
I was referred to Dr Canto in Nov 2018 and have been beyond satisfied with her care. She has followed me closely for a condition that could be life threatening since my original diagnosis. Even during the Covid pandemic she has made sure that I have the quarterly exams necessary to monitor my condition. Dr Canto has been very clear with her recommendations for my care and has shown a great deal of caring and compassion. I would recommend her without reservation.
Failed to provide post-surgical care & doesn't return calls. Avoid this physician !!!
Avoid Dr. Canto. I saw her in December 2019. While she may be competent, I found her rigid, lacking empathy, and disinterested in listening. When she insisted on an invasive procedure, I explained why it was logistically not possible for me to undergo that procedure at the time. Her curt response: "If you don't do it, I can't help you." And then she refused to spend a few follow-up minutes on the phone to discuss options. I was stunned and deeply disappointed by her attitude. She also seemed more interested in me as a study subject than a patient in need of help.
She had no concern for me and cancelled my appointments after long waiting periods. She did not respect my title and social status at the age of 74 with the anxiety I went Through.I managed to get an appointment with 4.7 star for less than a week waiting.I waited too long due to the respect I had from the doctor who recommended her to me and I lost six months.If.....you ask me I do not recommend Dr. Canto to my friends. No wonder she has 3.4 stars. She has no concern for her patients. Her interest counts only and none others.!!!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
