Happily, two months after surgery, I can give the highest compliments to Dr Thomas Swope and his staff. On November 1, 2022, Dr Thomas Swope performed an extensive hernia repair to correct residual problems from an emergency esophageal procedure I underwent in 2008. Over that period of time, I developed many hernias on either side of a large abdominal scar. These grew in size with increasing discomfort. Eventually, I decided to look into what repair options were available. I was referred to Dr Swope by my primary care Physician Robert Boughan. I met with Dr Swope two times prior to the surgery. He was extremely informative about the risks, limitations and expectations. His office was state of the art. My surgery was robot assisted and completed laparoscopically. The surgery was completed in about six hours and I stayed one night in the hospital. I wore a binder for 2-3 weeks after surgery. I had some minor discomfort but I never experienced any severe pain. This in spite of the very large repair area and estimated time for the procedure. I am very grateful for the changes in the shape of my abdomen and the succesful correction of a severe problem that was only to get worse with time. In addition, I didnt have to travel very far, for great service; the surgery was at Mercy hospital and pre/post meetings at Lutherville. Again many thanks to Dr Swope and his PA Justin. I recently had Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery For Hernia Repair. The procedure was very easy and after a month and half and my second post-op, I feel great! Dr Swope and his staff were amazing!

Dr. Swope and his team at Mercy did a terrific job! They provided very clear information (in plain terms that anyone could understand) on the front end for what to expect and for the recovery. The day of the surgery went like clockwork. The staff at Mercy was terrific and made the entire process smooth and issue free. Dr. Swope went over everything with me the day of the procedure and called my loved one with an update when he finished up. I can't recommend Dr. Swope and his team more heartily!

I had a great experience. Dr. Swope uses the latest techniques available. For my procedure he used the Intuitive Surgical Da Vinci robot, which is the most minimally invasive technology available - Although it was a 60-90 min surgery, I didn't take anything other than an anti-inflammatory after the first day. I didn't even need Tylenol. I had my two week follow up today and everything is healing fine. Thanks!

Inguinal hernia surgery in October went amazing it is now February and I am well pleased to say I am 100% recovered and have been so for the last 2 months. This man and his team of professionals changed my life.

Dr. Swope recently performed a double hernia on me. Everyone involved in the procedure...Dr. Swope, his staff, and all the nurses at Mercy were excellent. It may have been "minor surgery" in the grand scheme of things, but the staff at Mercy treated it with great importance. The surgery was a success and the recovery has been smooth.

Dr. Swope repaired both my left and right recurrent inguinal (groin) hernias and a umbilical hernia with mess using the da Vinic robotic minimally invasive laparoscopy system as outpatient surgery. Three extremely small stomach incisions compared to 4"previous hernia repairs. Surgery was at 8:30am and I was on my way home by 2pm. I'm on my third week of recovery and feeling great making sure not to lift anything heavier than 25lbs. The hospital staff basically met use at the front door and walked use through the system. I had someone from the hospital with me during my whole procedure. I would highly recommend Dr. Thomas Swope and Mercy Hospital for minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Swope was very informative at our initial consultation and made me feel very confident in having him handle my surgery. The surgery went well and the recovery was exactly as he had explained. There are no scars and I am very happy with the results. I highly recommend Dr. Swope to anyone contemplating hernia surgery.
