Lateral meniscus tears in both the Posterior and Anterior. MRI was inconclusive because there was too much fluid, so I went into PT here at MedStar with the goal of non-op recovery, and a follow up MRI when the fluid went down. I was assigned Rebecca Arturo, who had me functional and pain-free in about a month. I would highly recommend her as she also keeps your goals in mind. For me it was full functionality / full ROM, which is what I was able to work towards. As it turned out, my tear was a bucket-handle which required surgery to repair... But the Surgeons I saw said "It is incredibly stable in it's position, which is part of why you have no pain." And it was able to be fully repaired with no meniscectomy even 4 months post-tear. Looking forward to my fully recovered knee, thanks to all the medical professionals along the way including Arturo at MedStar.

I had total knee replacement on 12/5 and unfortunately I had to have neck surgery a week later. This put me behind in PT for my knee. However Alpa and Matt worked very hard to get me back on schedule. I wasn’t where I needed to be so I had knee manipulation on 1/12 and went straight back to PT. Both Alpa and Matt did their magic and now I’m on track to a full recovery. I can’t thank both of them and the support staff at Medstar for all of their excellent care during this very difficult time. If I’m ever in need of physical therapy again I will not hesitate to return to this team.

My granddaughter's physical therapist, Becky Arturo was phenomenal. She promised my granddaughter that she would be back in shape to continue her competitive dancing and she was right on target. My granddaughter has a condition where the ligaments are loose and Becky explained it thoroughly to her so that she has a better understanding of why she needs to continue her exercises and why she can get hurt easier than others. I was very impressed with Becky's knowledge and her expertise.
