Bethesda Chevy Chase Surgery Center's Online Review Report Card

Please note I am reviewing the center, not the surgical team. I almost didn’t want to leave my mom here for her recent surgery because the lobby is a total dump. I was about to sit down and saw stains all over the couch. Gross. I then looked carefully for a chair that didn’t look dirty. The last thing you want when going for a surgery is to have to guess if the surfaces are clean. The receptionist was lovely; and was the only air of light and warm energy in the place. The area behind the lobby is also pretty dingy looking. If they can’t afford clean lobby furniture, one wonders what else they are skimping on. Next knee, we are going to insist on the hospital or a cleaner looking center. My mom had a successful knee replacement here, I don’t have anything but praise for her surgeon and his team. Parking is also rather difficult though I got lucky.

Came here to repair my ACL the other day. I was a bit tired and nervous as it was very early morning but the staff was lovely and made sure I was comfortable and at ease throughout the entire procedure. Everything ran very smoothly and I was impressed with how efficient everything was and how quickly I went back. Overall, great job from the entire team, especially surgeon Dr. Pandarinath!

On the day of my surgery, I attempted to reach the on-call physician at midnight with an urgent message, but I did not receive a response. Subsequently, on September 13, 2024 I received a bill for $50.21, dated August 31, 2024, with a due date of September 28, 2024. When I went online to pay the bill, I was informed that there were no outstanding balances. However, on Monday, September 16, 2024, I received a notice from a collection agency stating that my account had been referred to them on September 10, which means the bill was sent to collections before its due date and prior to my receipt of the original invoice. On September 17, I received a call from the collection agency asking personal information. Refusing to provide it , they hung up on me.

My husband had knee surgery today. Arrived at 7:30am and checked in. When I asked when he would be out of surgery the front desk said 11:45am. I repeatedly inquired about my husband and was told they would check. Nothing. I asked the pre-op nurse if she could find out. She came to told me after one hour more that he was out of surgery. I had waited 6 hours, the surgeon never came to speak to me or have a nurse come speak to me. I can not believe a doctor would not come speak to me about the surgery. I thought there might have been complications or something. The patient transport tech bought my husband out of a side door. She could not answer any questions about his surgery. If you have a choice, cost being equal to a hospital, go to the hospital. Nothing compares to having your doctor speak to you and the person (in my case - spouse) about the surgery. In my opinion, it’s a money thing. Churn and burn. I am deeply disappointed and my husbands family are in shock. Choose this option if you do not care about being treated with dignity, compassion and respect.

Can't speak well enough of this place and people who work here. Got my ACL surgery done here with Dr. Lutton and the whole experience was delightful given the fact it was a surgery and it's not a great thing to go through! People where extremely nice and welcoming. They took well care of me and helped me calm down and explain everything before the procedure. The whole process was extremely fast and was out of there sooner that what I expected. I totally recommend this center. Thank you!

Can’t rave enough about this place! Had my last wisdom tooth taken out by Dr. Patel after a traumatic experience at another office. Everyone was extremely nice and attentive, walked out in no pain and had fajitas right after! Amazing place highly recommend!

Lady at the front desk is RUDE and VERY unprofessional. Seemed annoyed by every question asked. Does not make you feel comfortable with procedures taking place.

Local anesthesia failed. Awoke in severe pain. Inattentive nurse staff.

Professional, caring with a personal touch. From Sasha at check in, all the nurses-Dawn, Emily, Tracy, Siobhan were total pros, but kept it light. Thanks to Dr. Melvin for putting this team together!

This is only a review on Billing. See the reviews - they do need to fix how they bill. they charge you on the front end based on an estimate with the promise that you will be refunded if there is a balance. so.... now you have to remember to follow-up to get your money. ER's don't do this, and other hospitals don't do this. in my case - they chose to hold my balance due because I had two procedures close to each other and they wanted to see if I might owe more for the next procedure. This meant more calls from me to see what was happening to my refund. Facility is excellent! Great nurses. I did get my refund check.
