Great experience with Nathan, helped me address my shoulder instability. Received some help with exercises to help improve stability, and also received dry needling. Melissa was also a great help with scheduling and other items. Staff was knowledgeable of Ehlers Danlos patient needs and helped offer info there as well. Highly recommend!
The facility is very clean, great PT gym, and very friendly, helpful staff. A delight to work with.
I came to this practice last spring in very bad shape. I had severe back issues, numbness in my legs and feet and at that time could hardly sit or lay down flat. After months of regular PT and almost no progress I was hopeless that anything was going to change. My Neurologist suggested I look into dry needling. An initial google search immediately brought up Bethesda Physiocare. My very first visit with Dr Noelle Schlegel was wonderful! The dry needling and skilled PT’s at Bethesda Physiocare have changed my life. The office is very well run and the PT’s are highly skilled in what they do. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this practice. I am back to my normal routine again and wouldn’t be here without them! I tell everyone to go to Bethesda Physiocare now and how dry needling will change your quality of life. They do not accept insurance but happily submit for you. Also I learned the benefit of going out of network for PT is HUGE. The PT’s can treat any area, vs when covered by insurance they are limited on what they can do (ex: the first practice I went to).
Before finding Bethesda Physiocare I had tried everything for my back pain (5 years of chiropractic care, PRP, etc.) and nothing worked. I finally found this practice and have finally found pain relief! Noelle and Nate are the best! I REALLY hated needles, but at my first appointment Noelle's compassion, understanding, and patience eased my concerns and now I am no longer afraid. They're also very knowledgeable and if you're the type of person who likes to ask a lot of questions about your health. Because they're a teaching facility, not only do they know everything, they know how to explain it to the target audience! Melissa on the front desk is also extremely personable and makes sure I'm taken care of in terms of all the back of house matters (dealing with insurance, calling and notifying me when my preferred appointment time becomes available). They have both early and late appointments so it's super convenient (I go here even though I live on the other end of the beltway !)
Michael Robinson is top. He is very professional.
We have looked high and low for a Physical Therapy practice and Bethesda Physiocare is without a doubt the BEST we have experienced. To start, Melissa is not only incredibly intelligent, she is warm, supportive and truly vested in the patients in the practice. We have worked with Jan and Ethan and both are incredibly gifted. Jan is likely the most skilled provider we have ever seen and accounts for mind, body and spirit. His extensive experience and knowledge enables him to quickly develop strategic resolutions to the most complex cases. Ethan is incredibly skilled, positive, patient, smart and establishes a strong sense of trust. The facility itself mirrors the spirit of the practice - state of the art equipment, warm and cozy, clean and sleek. This isn't 'business as usual PT' - it's 'let's get your life back, results-oriented PT.'
I am a retired physical therapist and did dry needling when I was practicing. I have EDS and am a strong advocate of how beneficial dry needling can be for anyone. I needed treatment for my TMJ and cervical spine but was reluctant to go to somebody I didn't know. That was until I was lucky enough to find Dr. Noelle Schlegel at Bethesda Physiocare. She is the most gifted and talented physical therapist I have ever known. She is so knowledgeable. Not only can she find a trigger point but she has magic fingers and is so gentle that the needle sticks are nearly painless. It is truly worth the relief it brings. I had 80% relief after the first treatment. She does not just do dry needling but does manual therapy and exercises that are actually fun to do. It's like being in an arcade when you're doing your exercises. It's not like any physical therapy place you have been to before and that is coming from a retired physical therapist. Noelle is compassionate, kind, empathetic and she has such an easy going personality. She also teaches the dry needling courses so that in itself tells you the amount of experience she has. If I were a student looking to take one of the Myopain Seminars I would seek out one of the courses that Noelle is teaching. She is enthusiastic, on top of her game and would make learning fun. I also had a couple of treatment sessions with Dr. Nathan Mayberry and he is excellent as well and so compassionate and caring. The office is new and beautiful. From the moment you walk in the door you feel welcomed from Melissa who is the operations manager. She is extremely efficient and can answer any question you might have and works the schedule to get you in as quickly as possible. Take it from me.....you are getting the best of the bunch at Bethesda Physiocare.
I had been in pain for 14 years due to ongoing back issues, and after just two sessions with Dr. Jan Dommerholt, I am pain-free. I’ve now gone two months without any pain, which feels incredible after so many years of discomfort. I am truly grateful for Dr. Jan’s help and expertise. Thank you, Dr. Jan, for giving me my quality of life back!
I had a great experience with Bethesda Physiocare. Lisa was great and the staff was very accomodating. I received an appointment quickly and after one visit, my shoulder is feeling much better (after 3 months of pain). It's been 3 days since my visit and so far so good. They do try to solve the issue in one visit, it's clear. I thought I'd need multiple treatments but feel I got a great value.
4 stars only because they are out-of-network and I believe in healthcare for all. As someone with EDS, I know what it's like to schedule an appointment with a PT and be afraid. Will they understand what I go through? Do I have to convince them of my pain? Will they injure me? If they work on my knee is it going to mess up my ankle? Bethesda Physiocare knows EDS, and I confidently recommend them to anyone who needs a PT who understands the complexities of hypermobility and the overwhelming amount of physical and mental impacts it has on my entire body. Making an appointment is easy. Operations Director Melissa, frequently found at the front desk, is incredibly friendly and easy to work with around insurance questions/filing claims. So far, the PT I've been working with is Dr. Arona Diop. The amount of trust I developed with him is unlike I've had with any doctor. He listened to me about my dysautonomia symptoms, mental health symptoms, and pain concerns in detail before creating a treatment plan. He has helped me realized what my honest potential is when it comes to being strong, active, and managing my pain flares. Arona is a provider who truly takes a patient-centered approach, working with me at my speed, and still pushing me to safely do (light) weight exercises for the first time in years. I've had other doctors in the area who claim to be the expert because they also have EDS (Arona does as well), but Arona applies his lived experience, wealth of anatomical knowledge, vast experience of working with patients with hypermobility and EDS to be hands down the best PT I've ever had.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
