I recently had cataract surgery at Champlain Opthalmology. Dr James Heltzer was my surgeon and my outcome was outstanding. He is excellent in his field and has a caring bedside manner. Everyone at the practice from the front desk, optical technicians and surgery scheduler was efficient, knowledgeable and made the process easy for me. I feel like I chose the best IOL for my goals and had good information to make the right decision. Highly recommend.

General check-up and also cataract surgery on one-eye. The right eye sees perfectly for total vision. Friendly until he is questioned about the outcome from surgery. He is arrogant and the person rating him below was spot on. My multi-focal lens was expensive, not totally covered and only sees far-sighted, with a big blur that really impedes my vision. So glad I found a much better ophthalmologist that listens and does cop an attitude if there is a concern with the service provided. His staff is pleasant.

He removed cataracts in both eyes for my wife and me with excellent results. His attentive listening to our concerns, his explanations of our conditions, and his answers to our questions have all been exemplary. He has innate modesty, keen concern for the welfare of his patients and, based on the results and consultation he provided to each of us, outstanding expertise.

Be prepared to wait. I waited 1.5 hours for 10 minutes with Dr. Heltzer. (I also spent 10 minutes reviewing my files with an assistant.)

Dr. Heltzer is very professional, efficient, kind and caring. He throughly discusses with you what procedures are the best for you. He has a great team of professionals assisting him. His office staff are very nice individuals, they always greet you with smiles. Your appointment is always scheduled so there is no unnecessary waiting. I definitely recommend anyone who needs a top notch Ophthalmologist make sure that they use Dr. Heltzer.
