List of Mark Klaiman's Reviews
Extraordinary service! Great and helpful staff all around. Dr. Klaiman and Suros were very professional and caring
Finally feeling myself again. My PT Leilah and Dr. Klaiman were very methodical and precise and provided excellent patient care. I highly recommend this practice with its many supporting resources for physical rehabilitation.
Dr. Klaiman and the pt staff are highly competent, accommodating, personable and kind. Dr. Klaiman treated me with “medical acupuncture,” which was very effective for pain control. I departed a much healthier person. Highly recommend.
Dr. Klaiman is highly competent, caring, concerned, and up for a good challenge. My neurosurgeon referred me. Dr. Klaiman performed “medical acupuncture,” and ordered intensive in-office pt. Never returned to the neurosurgeon as there was no need to open my back. Highly recommend.
I saw Dr Klaiman due to acute lower back pain after first trying a chiropractor (who made things much worse—while I walked into his office unaided, I left in an ambulance) and an orthopedist (who spent 10 minutes with me at most and implied that it was ridiculous for me to think I could return to my sports —biking and rowing and Pilates, etc. especially at my age (67). Dr Klaiman was quite a contrast to the first 2 health care professionals described above in a very good way. He listened to me, showed great compassion, gave me all the time I needed and his assessment of my condition was much more promising and he said there was no reason I can’t get back to sports although i’d need a lot if PT first. I’d highly recommend him.
Totally disappointed! Dr. Klaiman came highly recommended. Gave me a blood work order and did not mention that I need to fast. When I looked at my record on the patient portal - they noted the left foot instead of the right foot as the one with the issue. Never heard from his office on the results of the bloodwork - so 2 weeks later I emailed him and he said he would get them today. Now it's been 20 days and I still don't have the results. Finally just got them from the lab and will have another doctor read them. Also - decided not to go through the practice for PT (since I was completely disappointed with my doctor visit) so I cancelled a week in advance of appt. using the automatic confirm phone call - then again by calling the desk and speaking to someone. They still called me to say I missed the appointment!
I highly recommend Dr. Mark Klaiman as a pain management doctor. I have been seeing him regularly for a number of years to treat my migraine headaches. I am 70 years old and have been getting migraines since I was 18. Every four weeks he does trigger point injections (also called dry needling) in my neck and shoulder area, and every 12 weeks he injects Botox in my skull. Since I started the combination of these two treatments, my migraines have decreased from more than 15 days a month to 7 days or less every month. I have found Dr. Klaiman to be extremely knowledgeable about pain management and how to treat different medical issues. He is the co-founder of “Point Performance” and was named by his peers as one of Washingtonian magazine’s “Top Docs” for the past several years. In addition, Dr. Klaiman is one of the nicest, warmest people I know. He is extremely caring and spends as much time as I need to discuss my medical problems. Moreover, he is virtually always on time – an unusual thing for a doctor to be. Dr. Klaiman’s office staff are wonderful. Kelly, his nurse, couldn’t be nicer. And his front office receptionists, especially Yocelyn, are helpful, pleasant, caring, and knowledgeable about insurance. His massage therapist on staff, named Cherron, is fabulous! I have not had occasion to use the services of any of the physical therapists on staff. When Dr. Klaiman moved his office to its current location on Goldsboro Drive in Bethesda a couple of years ago, he replaced all the front office staff – which was great because they were sometimes rude and unpleasant. The new office space at 6400 Goldsboro Road in Bethesda (close to River Road) is gorgeous and also has free parking. Dr. Klaiman is very well educated and trained. He received his Doctorate in Medicine from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Columbia University. He is board certified and has been a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1994. He received his acupuncture training through the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture in 1995. In sum, I could not be more pleased with the quality of care that I receive from Dr. Mark Klaiman.
Horrible experience with this doctor. Rude, condescending, dismissive. His partner had extensive notes on me; I don't think he even glanced at them. After a cursory exam, he offered no diagnosis (vaguely said he "needed to think about it"), suggested no rehab exercises (was visibly offended by the idea: "It's not my job to give you some papers with exercises to do"), and basically told me I'd wasted my time coming in ("what exactly were you expecting here?"). What was I expecting? I don't know, man. Some kind of diagnosis and treatment plan? Or at least a gesture at testing? Or something more than... well, nothing. Follow up was nonexistent. At one point, he mused about sending me to another therapist in DC, but never bothered to write out a referral. I had to pester his office several times before his partner (who is incredible and deserves a 5-star review) finally called me back. Basically, this guy dismissed my case in the first few minutes and spent most of our time trying to get me out of the door as soon as possible. I've been in pain for months, and he didn't even try to help.
I have worked with Dr. Klaiman for close to 3 years now and he is part of the "dream team" of doctors in DC that keeps my body going after 10 years of professional skiing, allowing me to remain an amateur athlete not afraid to hold back in my day to day work outs and more extreme skiing outings all over the world. His acupuncture work has been instrumental in reducing tightness in my lower back, glutes, and quads, and I can easily feel the difference the day after an appointment. Also a very nice, laid back fellow - which can be hard to find in today's medical world!
I was suffering with severe plantar fascia issues for months and had tried everything--my athlete daughter had raved about how he addressed her running injuries. I had no idea if acupuncture would offer me anything but after 3 visits, my many months of suffering showed marked improvement and resolved itself. Dr. Klaiman is a warm and thoughtful physician ( I appreciated that he is both an MD and an acupuncturist)--I am grateful for his care and the quick and wonderful impact he had in my healing process.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
