List of Shruti Lyer's Reviews
I needed/wanted to get an gyno visit ASAP. My primary care dr's (JH) no longer have a GYNO center in Bethesda. I called GW but could only get a visit with a nurse and it was 3 weeks out. Capital Women's Care gave me an appt. w/i two days with Dr. Iyer. She's new to the staff, but was great, she even followed up with a phone call after my visit to clarify a prescription dose. The office staff was friendly and quick and the office was clean. Someone complained about parking. No where in Bethesda is free and I had no problem finding a space. If you are looking for a OBGYN in Bethesda, I recommend considering this group.
Expect a 2 month wait before appointments; then, at least an hour for quick and routine procedures once at the location. You'll be spending most of your time in uncomfortable positions and locations, and made to feel like you're inconveniencing the staff by asking them to do their jobs. Came in for an IUD removal and needed to self pay, so I asked for a cost estimate up front and was told $350. Fine. When I went to pay after, the price had jumped to $680! I inquired about the extra costs and was told it was the doctor fee on top of the removal cost. Interesting that less than 2 minutes of face time and removal process with the doctor added an extra $200 to my bill. Costs are completely unreflective of the level of care you'll receive. Not worth it - find somewhere else if you can.
This review is for the Bethesda, MD location. Logistically it's a nightmare because the only parking lot available is a paid lot that's always almost full. Experience wise - the front desk workers are often rude and act like you're a bother to them. The doctors I saw were careless, pushy, and disrespectful. Do not go here if you are expecting a baby! Most noteworthy was seeing Dr. Deena Kleinerman multiple times - first when she in my opinion tried to bully me into procedures I didn't want while I was pregnant, and then shortly after my pregnancy when I got sick and she disregarded my concerns which landed me in a hospital for a surgery. She actually even yelled at me on the phone while in the hospital. Unbelievable that doctors get away with all this. Truly a traumatic experience. Avoid this place at all costs.
A very disappointing experience delivering my first baby with this practice - a medically unnecessary induction, that further led to early epidural and ultimately a C section (pretty much a text book example of how to reduce your chances of natural birth when there are no medical reasons for c section). If you are a first time mom, definitely read up on Bradley method, Lamaze, Evidence Based Birth, and other sources so you know what to expect during a normal healthy pregnancy. Learn about risks and benefits of inductions and honestly, go somewhere else, find a doctor and a hospital that provides you with good information on childbirth process and how to prepare and doesn't treat pregnancy as a disease if you are healthy.
As many others have noted this office has the rudest front desk. I tried to contact the surgical coordinator. No one could tell me when she would be in. I left return call messages. I asked the front desk to have her call me at 3 ( if she came in) as I had an appointment at noon and did not want to miss her call. Well you guessed it. She calls me at 10 of noon. I was not home and trying to schedule without my calendar. I'm an terrified as I need surgery and not sure if this office is prepared to handle it. My prior gyno moved out of state. Second one in the last 3 years. They close the office from noon to 1245 but don't tell you that. As I type this I am standing in the hallway. They lock the doors.
This practice is probably OK if you seek routine gynecological check-ups, but I would NOT trust them again with a pregnancy. On two separate occasions, I expressed concern over a physical discomfort/heaviness and was told it was nothing to be concerned about -- "it's most likely bowels" -- without actually checking me or recommending I see the MFM just to be sure. I ended up losing my perfectly healthy baby boy at Week 20. By that point, it was too late to place a cerclage. The office never bothered to reach out after the loss -- none of the doctors.
horrific front desk staff, rude and aggressive billing department (that is never available and unable to get ANYTHING correct), and doctors who do not advocate for women. I was having so many issues with my IUD, i wanted to take it out and get the one i had before, but was told to go to a dermatologist or that the symptoms weren't from the iud (i know my body and they refused to listen to me). after three different doctors and appointments - i finally got the iud out and replaced a different iud and all of my symptoms went away, NO THANKS to the doctors. they ignored me, told me i was wrong, told me i couldn't get a new iud covered by insurance (which was incorrect - poor billing department once again). My sister was also refused her birth control prescription by the front desk and the front desk wouldn't even put a nurse on until i threatened to make a formal complaint - it's so disgusting and not how a "women's practice" should operate. they should be ashamed. DO NOT GO HERE.
I give up. After being a long-time patient of Dr. Krinn's, I can no longer continue to try and battle the horrific front desk at the Bethesda location. Especially with what could be such sensitive care, the front desk is rude, careless, and completely incapable. It's really hard for me to give up seeing Dr. Krinn, but the stress of dealing with this front desk to attempt to get an appointment, ask my doctor a question, schedule a follow up (I was asked to come back in 6 months, and the best they could do is 8.5 months..), get additional details on tests, etc. has become no longer an option for me. I hope that the capable doctors and nurses find appropriate support staff to facilitate a successful practice.
I had an appt with Dr. Kim Severn. I didn't wait too long in the waiting area( 5-10 min tops) Dr. Kim was very polite, caring and knowledgeable. She made me feel at ease and answered all of my questions. I would definitely recommend Dr. Kim. So sweet.
I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to GYN appointments, but my experience at Capital Women's Care in North Bethesda was very pleasant, painless, and super informative. The front desk and nursing staff were very friendly and Dr. Beeson helped ease my anxiety and walked me through everything! I couldn't be happier with my experience.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
