List of James Chesley's Reviews
Great doctor who takes the time to explain the prognosis and course of action if necessary. Staff is very cordial and responsive.
I have been going to DrChesley since 1995 he is awesome—his bedside manner is clearly impeccable. I have had 5 colonoscopies. His staff is friendly and competent! I do not think he would have it any other way.
Customer service over the phone is extremely rude and not very informative at all. This isn't the first time I've called this office and received the same treatment!
From the receptionists to the anesthesiologist to Dr. Chesley, this is an awesome practice! you will be seen twice if you are having a colonoscopy; the first is to acquaint you with Dr. Chesley and the procedure, the second is the procedure itself. I remembered an awful procedure 12 years ago and had refused to go back, even though I did not know the doctor and it was not fair to compare him to someone else. The process is hyper-efficient, as Dr. Chesley is very popular. Everyone has a great rapport with the patients. He moves quickly, but he offers to answer questions, the receptionist will answer questions, the nurses will answer questions ... you get the idea. One complaint: I know the room needs to be cold, but it took three blankets to keep me warm while I waited for the procedure. I have notoriously small veins, but two women worked at it for a good while to make it work! I applaud them. I highly recommend Dr. Chesley and his staff.
Had a very pleasant visit with Dr. Chelsey. Before going I read reviews which were positive. His assessment was thorough and candid and he kept it real, which is what I needed. He also went the extra mile to let me know that if I had questions or read up on some things related to my issue to just give him a call, so we talk about it. The place is not luxury I ambiance but the service was quick, I was processed, seen, and back in my car in a hour.
Has every patient sit & watch videos about their conditions during their appt. Seemed a bit rushed & not the best listener, as most doctors unfortunately. Didn't force me into a procedure instead of trying meds 1st like my former gastro dr.'s, which I liked. Seemed to know his craft. Only had 1 appt. w/him.
Well prepared before you enter the room. A consummate professional.
I had to find another gastro Dr because he is rude and talk down to me. If I ask questions he'll say well get another dr if you don't take my word. I have a great dr now in Greenbelt, Md. I can ask questions without dr being rude!
Like several of the other commenters here, I found Dr. Chesley to be short and unnecessarily "smart" in his remarks. He's quite arrogant. That said I believe he cares about his patients but his manner is very off-putting and he doesn't really listen to you. I think I'd rather have a dr. who is competent AND listens.
My experience with Dr Chesley was nothing but pleasant. His bedside manner was very kind. I felt he was listening to me which is not always the case with doctors. The Endoscopy Center staff was very nice and made me feel welcome and safe. I would recommend to family and friends.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
