List of Andrew Engel's Reviews
Pushes medical interventions like pitocin without explanation and not medically indicated. Doesn’t listen to requests of mother.
Dr. Engel spent a ton of time with me on my very first visit with him establishing care. I felt like he took a long time to go through my patient history and ask all of the appropriate follow-up questions. He has a sarcastic sense of humor. I appreciated that about him, and it made me feel a lot more comfortable. I felt like he took a lot of time to explain my options to me so I could make the best possible choice about what medication to try next. He has a very calming way about him (doesn't get flustered easily). He is also a very practical doctor. I would definitely recommend him to friends and family.
first time pregnant, had empty sac-- got sent BACK TO WAITING ROOM before he came in to discuss with me. Also told me it was caused by a having a cold.
He is truly an amazing OB. He is calming and happy every time I see him which very helpful in times of labor and delivery. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an OB. He is the best Dr I have had.
I don't know if Dr. Engel tries to be cute/funny, but I found his comments and demeanor to be condescending and quite frankly, inappropriate. For example, I calmly explained to him why I didn't want to take a medication for nausea (the side effects were worse than the nausea), and he said, "you don't get points for being a martyr." Ok...how am I supposed to respond to that? That's just one example- there are others. I don't care for attitude when I'm receiving medical care, so I'll be switching practices. Besides, Reiter Hill is poorly organized- if you have any issue, you'll leave a message and never hear back. I needed a preauthorization for a prescription and called about 5 times, but it never went through. I gave up.
Dr. Engel is witty, kind, yet very professional. He was very knowledgeable regarding my questions and offered thoughtful and thorough advice including pros and cons of the options available. He has been my OB/Gyn since 2009. He is pretty amazing.
Dr. Engel was the worst doctor I could have every had or dreamed of having for the delivery of my first child. I had a very simple birth plan and mind set going into the hospital the day my son was born, that I wanted a natural birth yet if it was medically necessary I would take medical intervention. I was 1 cm dilated when he met me the morning of September 30th and the first thing out of his mouth was about my birth plan, not a mention regarding my doula or that I was on a birthing ball to help my labor yet ARE YOU READY FOR PITOCIN! From meeting Dr. Engel, to almost walking out of the hospital, the 12 hour ordeal was disastrous for the progression of my labor. I never dilated as he hounded my into taking pitocin. My water had broken yet not completely and though there was mecomium in my water, it did not mean that I could not have a natural/vaginal birth. I am leaving the Reiter Hill practice because of Dr. Engel. He was egotistical and condescending, insensitive to the process

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
