Dr. Smith is the most knowledgeable, thorough, and caring doctor I have ever had. He is up to date on the latest research. He successfully treated me for aggressive breast cancer with chemotherapy and biologics, advising surgery and radiation. His very kind manner and vast knowledge made me trust in him.
Kind, compassionate, and caring. Wonderful staff.
They are wonderful doctors and awesome nurses and staff! My experience is with Drs. Smith and Barr; they know their medicine and are very compassionate. Everybody in town knows and respects this highly talented group. The nurses and staff are detailed, caring and effective. Pressing button 13 on the elevator is sobering, but knowing the best care available awaits is comforting.
Dr. Smith has been treating me since l995 and he has made my life better ever since.
Dr. Smith has been excellent at communicating and explaining to me my options. I have been able to be involved in my care throughout the process. He is clear that he cares about his patients. He was the right doctor for me given my confusion after my diagnosis and surgery.
The best oncologist in the DC area. He has outstanding knowledge and a wonderful nursing staff! Administrators are very helpful with insurance matters. Blood work handled onsite. There is often a wait of about 30 minutes but that's not unusual when you're waiting for the best medical care. I know of many others who see Dr. Smith and also rate him the best!
I have been a patient of Dr. Smith's for 5 years. I am a now a cancer-free triple-negative breast cancer survivor. I fully believe the care I received by Dr. Smith and his staff saved my life. I call Dr. Smith my Zen doctor. He is confident, friendly, but soft-spoken and deliberate - for me that had a very calming effect. He exudes geniune compassion and a quiet confidence. He is not at all condensending, I always felt like an equal in determining my care. He listens intently, welcome questions, discusses options, and spends as much time as the patient needs/wants (wait time might suffer just a bit because of this). In fact, that is how his entire staff behaves - from the lab assistants, to the nurses, to the front desk staff. Bottom line - in Dr. Smith's care, I've always felt, respected, heard, reassured, and important. I believe that means as much as any chemotherapy in providing the best possible outcome.
Dr. Smith treated me for breast cancer in 2008. I had 8 TAC and Avastin chemo treatments and another 9 follow-up Avastin treatments. Dr. Smith is very calm and quiet, yet caring and always willing to discuss your treatment and provide options. I found his manner very soothing (I called him zen doctor), but not condensending. He was a welcome source of patience, confidence, logic, and sanity during a stressful period for me. He was willing to apply for (and got accepted) for a clinical trial so that I could receive treatment with Avastin. His staff, from the front desk personel, to the chemo nurses, and his head nurse Susie are all very friendly, caring, and knowledgable.
I first met Dr. Smith over 25 years ago when I was in my bed at Sibley Hospital waiting for the results of my bone scan. The Inspector General's Office of my agency was investigating the negligent care I received overseas and my surgeon told me that in my case all we could do was pray. Dr. Smith introduced himself, looked me in the eye and told me that he knew my story, understood how I felt, but that my prognosis was good and that I would be okay. He taught me not to panic and to proceed step by step, doing the necessary tests, evaluating the results, and choosing the best treatment based on the information available. When I was diagnosed for breast cancer for the second time seven years ago, I was relieved to know that Dr. Smith would be there for me again. He is an experienced clinician and researcher. He's a man of few words, but he is a compassionate and caring human being whose patients can be assured they will get the best care currently possible.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
