List of Gautam Siram's Reviews
Dr. Siram appears to be very knowledgeable and has good bedside manners. He gave me transparent information about my knees. I am in process of trying to determine who will do my knee surgery.
I waited until the magical 7th year to send this perfect review. Gautam did a fabulous anterior right hip replacement on me. He put me at ease right at the inception, prior to and after my successful surgery. I went back for a 3-year follow-up and he remembered me well and even didn't forget some personal things that I shared with him. He's the best! I walk now 6-8 miles per day at a rate of 15 minutes/mile and swim 1/4 mile per day.
Siram is uninterested in accepting responsibility for carelessness and inconsistency on the part of his staff. His PA missed my elevated potassium level and a hospital anesthesiologist had to tell me in pre-op that my surgery had to be postponed. When I showed him the fax my dentist had received saying that I needed antibiotics before dental care (though he had told me I did not), he said the information my dentist had received was from "the front desk" and did not say he would correct the instructions for "the front desk." Much of the written information about hip replacement surgery that his office provided was unclear and/or inconsistent.
I had many bad experiences with other doctors until a friend told me bc about Dr Siram. He is very kind, professional, his team is excellent and organized. I had partial knee replacement I am very happy I trust him with this procedure. Soon I will do my second knee replacement.
Dr. Siram and his team performed my first (left) hip replacement in August 2017 at Sibley Hospital when I was living in Washington, DC. I was so pleased with the results (I was commuting to work by bus and taking long walks along the C&O canal within a few weeks) that I saw fit to travel from my new home in Stockholm, Sweden to Washington in July 2021 for Dr. Siram to replace my “other” hip. It has only been one month and today, I walked three miles in a forest near my home, climbed a bunch of stairs, did my PT exercises, worked a few hours without any discomfort, BBQd outdoors and cleaned up afterwards. All a way of saying I'm back to my usual routines - I feel better than I’ve felt for years - and I’m “off” all of my prescription meds. Thank you, Dr. Siram, Ashley, Suzanne, and Jara for taking such good care of me these past weeks, and for planning and organizing my surgery from six time zones away (I now live in Sweden) - no easy feat, I’m sure - and arranging my preop tests, covid tests, and follow up appointments for me on short notice. Everything went like clockwork. Thank goodness I won’t require a 3rd hip replacement, but if I did, you know where I’d go.
over a year ago I had a partial knee replacement by Dr. Siram. I no longer have ANY pain and play pickleball & tennis weekly. He & his PA are fabulous clinicians and wonderfully caring individuals. as a retired nurse I searched for the best knee surgeon, so glad I did.
Best orthopedic surgeon anywhere!!! Made me feel very comfortable about my surgery.
Dr. Siram may be an excellent surgeon, but when it comes to followup care post surgery, his practice is a MAJOR disappointment. I was discharged from his surgery center less than three hours after my surgery began, given some printed instructions and .... that was it. No one from Dr. Siram's office ever called to check how I was doing, and when I called for advice/help with pain management, the only people I heard back from were medical assistants who gave me conflicting and confusing info on what drugs I should be taking and how often I should be using them. It took three full days to have a badly need prescription for painkillers correctly called into my pharmacy. Total knee replacement is a painful surgery so it doesn't seem unreasonable to expect a surgeon or other doctor to be available to help manage that pain in the immediate aftermath. That was decidedly NOT what happened. Unless you're looking for a DIY experience, I suggest looking for another surgeon,
Dr Siram and his team performed a full hip replacement in August. Absolutely wonderful experience - very professional - everyone was top notch. And all in the middle of a pandemic 🤷♂️ I can’t reccomend him more - and seven months later I’m better than ever!
had a long 45 minute wait for Ashley.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
