Unbelievable experience with Nneka Ezunagu - basic business. I researched psychiatrists and mental practices that could possibly give my brother the help he needed after losing our mom to cancer abruptly. I was hoping for someone sincere. I called to speak to numerous practices to feel out their vibe by speaking to someone at each facility I called- which is when I found a practice that seemed promising which was My Client Mental Health. They assured me they actually care and that they’d take care of him. Long story short- she met with him a few times, not sure if she even really listened to his history or the traumatic experience at an inpatient facility triage immediately before seeking help here, and treaded him along about the FMLA paperwork. I spoke to her yesterday morning after my brother called with an anxiety attack about their response to him this morning. She basically tried to say she can’t do the paperwork as many people take advantage of this which is when I cut her off immediately- this was what he was triggered by when he received an email 10 days after the follow up “answer” to whether or not she could complete his FMLA. He was agonizing over giving his employer an answer and she dodged him for 10 days and went as far as I tried to call you all last week but didn’t have time to leave a voicemail. This response was only written minutes after receiving his last email asking to cancel the upcoming appointment was when they magically had time to call back and leave a voicemail and reply to his email this morning- 10 days after the “over the weekend by Monday” she stated she would ”give him an answer after speaking to her superiors and management”- That right there is a big red flag but I guess I was hopeful. All he asked was the follow up or at least a reply to his emails (which we assumed would not write him a note saying he was under their care which we understood the system can be broken) On the phone with me this morning, she stated providers never check or respond to patients directly and “we are very busy”. I chuckled. I responded that my providers always respond within 48-max 72 hours to even messages. I remained calm and understanding. She stated she would apologize to him at the next appointment which was only proving the point. After 25 minutes of hearing what this situation was and her side of the story, she asked to call me back as she had a client waiting. Surprise! No call back. It was very patronizing and this makes me so sad for people who truly need REAL help for mental health may not be getting the care they need in the lowest and most challenging times in their life. Hope this helps someone in finding the support you may truly need.
