Lorien Encore's Online Review Report Card

It seems my original post was deleted.Do not send your loved ones here.My mother was there for rehab after her stroke and what she endured as well as our family was unimaginable.The majority of the staff could care less about the patients,in the month my mother was there she never received a shower,we spoke with Supervisors,Case Manager(awful)even the Director Lou,who is just horrible!I filed a lengthy complaint with the Health Dept,how they haven’t been shut down is mind boggling.I even called the Corporate office and no one bothered to get back to me.We were there every day and they still neglected my mother,I feel bad for those that don’t have family.My mother left in an ambulance,Dr Guptka showed up 2x for a couple of minutes with no care for the patient.The therapy staff was not equipped nor qualified,they failed my mother horribly.Don’t let the landscaping there fool you.Stay FAR away from Encore!!

I wish I could give this facility a 0. I also want to add that we are not demanding people, or like to complain for no reason. I am writing in response to the Rehab Unit, I can’t speak on behalf of the assisted living or nursing home facilities.My mom was brought here to recover after surgery. Her room was aesthetically very nice and comforting. However, she did have a roommate that blasted the tv from early in the morning, til late at night. The roommate was on her phone constantly and yelling at the person on the other line. How is anyone supposed to heal and get any rest under those conditions?No one explained to her how the menu worked. My mom was served food without given any options. She was so dissatisfied with the food she was given. Hospital food was more appetizing than what she was served at Encore.The staff here is not able to provide adequate medical attention. She would push the nurse button for help, and someone would show up 30 minutes later. At one point, my mom was getting her catheter replaced and the 2 nurses were arguing in front of her in their native language about what to do! Communication was terrible and there was difficulty with nurses understanding what my mom needed. Their English was not well enough. My mom and I are both English teachers so we are extremely patient and understanding of English Language Learners. However, in a medical field, communication is extremely important.My mom begged Encore to send her to the hospital, which I’m glad she did. She said if she had stayed there, she would have died. The doctor (Dr. Gupta) only came and visited once, very shortly. The day after my mom arrived to the facility, things started going downhill.Unfortunately, these facilities are just not able to provide professional, necessary attention. I thought Encore would be different from other rehab places because it had 5 stars. We were proven wrong. This facility is also a sub acute rehabilitation center. Something we learned through experience. 20 minutes of physical therapy a day for someone who has been bed ridden for 2 weeks is unacceptable. It felt like she was there to sit and watch tv with a little bit of exercise. The point of her being there is to recover and get back on her feet. She was not there as a nursing home resident.Do your research before you place a loved one in a facility!!!! I can’t stress this enough!!

Our loved one was at Encore for almost four weeks for rehab after a hip break. It was a horrific experience and that's being kind. Visits were still not allowed and getting through to someone to try and get updates or check on care was nearly impossible. Due to our loved one's dementia, he couldn't advocate for himself or communicate with us. When you could reach someone, after multiple attempts or escalating, the staff was always nice. However, information was haphazard and changed irradicably, safety precautions were missed (thus resulting in new hip dislocating and trip to ER), follow-through was lacking and stories changed when gaps in care were questioned.Our loved one left the facility with more medical issues than he entered with and he made ZERO progress with PT rehabilitation. We had our loved one go to a different rehab facility after Encore and he made more PT rehabilitation progress in a little over a week then he made in a month at Encore. We also had to manage through PTSD from how he was treated/handled at Encore.It was so bad that the Administrator of the facility questioned why they were being asked to run a simple stool test to check on a medical concern when he was just there for a hip break. I was told they were doing me a favor. Clearly overall care and well-being of their patients is not their priority. The administrator, Lou, was rude, condescending and abrasive. His behavior was quite shocking.We were beyond disappointed with the rehabilitation and nursing care and quickly learned that the 5-Star Medicare rating really doesn't represent reality. If your loved one cannot 100% advocate for his/herself and fight for proper rehabilitation and nursing care, it is best to look elsewhere.

I have called in thrice to schedule a visit to see my Uncle, they always transfer me to another line and the voicemail starts. Then I tried the Livechat. Livechat is USELESS!!!!!!!!! They are No Help, They dont care!

I do not have enough kind words to say about this facility and the amazing staff that works there. My grandfather spend several months at Lorien recovering from a stroke as a result of cancer. The nursing staff was beyond kind and compassionate. Everyone treated my grandfather with dignity and respect. They went above and beyond to make sure my grandfather felt at home the best they could while he was there. The facility was clean and we always felt welcomed when visiting our grandfather. We are forever grateful for the entire staff at Lorien!

This is a very clean facility that I visited and I met this wonderful kind caring young lady who took time to ask could she assist me and ask did T need any help or did I have any questions. Normally since pre COVID people always seem to busy to see if you need any assistance. I wanted to personally thank Melissa Shifflet for her kindness and thoughtfulness. At times such as these we need more people like Melissa. Thank you

Encore have a great staff my grandmother an grandfather both was there an they always mentioned Ms.Tammy Richardson I met her she is a outstanding woman, good with the patients an always on top of her game when she in her work zone

This facility is absolutely amazing! A home away from home.

Excellent communication. Nursing supervisor Tammy was very knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions and concerns. Excellent nursing care.

Encore is the best place to grow, learn and have fun.
