David Kowalk Md's Online Review Report Card

I had knee surgery with Dr David Kowalk and he did nothing but mess my knee up worse than it was . It was supposed to be a torn meniscus removal he took the shredded peace out but in the meantime he ripped my Mesial tendon and never said nothing he pushed us off and never tried to rectify the situation so I have to get two other opinions and now are seeking an attorney because It has cost me in the long run financially. I couldn’t work for 4 months. So be aware of this man he acted like he didn’t care about us at all. I have had to go to another Orthopedics Specialist and also a Pain Specialist.

I recently had knee surgery performed by Dr. Kowalk. He thoroughly explained the procedure. The surgery went extremely well. I was able to do exercises at home and I am now walking normally without any pain. He was a miracle worker. I’m so glad that I had him as my surgeon.

So, I majorly blew my knee out doing essentially a 25 yo’s sport at the age of almost 50; endurance horseback riding. Dr. Kowalk has been wonderful! He’s been extremely attentive, knowledgeable and clearly has my best interest and comfort in mind. I genuinely appreciate that he has encouraged as much leg movement as medically prudent/reasonable throughout the process so that physical therapy wouldn’t be such an uphill battle. Other docs may have you immobilized your leg for a period which keeps their surgical work safe but at a rather high cost to the patient in terms of sweat and pain in PT. I was very relieved that he encouraged as much leg use as he did post surgery. I couldn’t be more pleased with his care and I was even more pleased not to have to travel to DC to get such excellent care. Thanks a ton to Dr. Kowalk for everything he’s done to get me back On the trails with my equine partner as soon as possible!

I've been seeing Dr. kowalk since I was 10. First for fractured pelvis from a tree fall all the way to my teens for a torn ACL and my 20's for a torn meniscus. He has performed two knee surgeries and I would never want to see another Doctor my orthopedic needs. Dr. kowalk is the best around.

Everyone was very kind but professional. Had rotator cuff surgery done yesterday. everything is going great. Thanks to all.

I would not recommend him

Almost 7 months ago I ended up in Frederick Memorial Hospital with a trimalleolar ankle fracture. I was in tremendous pain and very scared and at the mercy of whatever surgeon was on call that day. Thank heavens it was Dr. Kowalk! He explained the injury to me very well and the surgery that was highly recommended/necessary to fix it. My surgery went smoothly with screws and plates installed and he monitored my recovery as well. As early as 3 months after the surgery I was back to taking walks and shortly thereafter was back to vigorous activity at the gym. My ankle is as close to perfect as I can imagine after such a serious injury. I am forever grateful for the person who fixed it. He did a tremendously good job.
