List of James Amerena Md's Reviews
Dr. Amerena is very patient and kind. I have been seeing him for several years. He always listens to my concerns and works them up.
The doctor discharge me out of his practice because I had a $25 copay bill that I was not aware. I was told that in order to continue to get service I would need to pay the bill, as soon as I paid the $25 bill I was told that the doctor will not see me anymore, and I was discharged from his practice. His practice has offices all over Frederick and the majority of good doctors with good reputation in Frederick belongs to this practice. Because of $25 a very ill patient now has to seek care in Reston Va... avoid this doctor and his practice, as money comes first and your health is an after thought.
Great docctor explains himself and spends a significant amount of time and listens.
Dr. Amerena has been my primary care physician since 2001. He and his team at the Spring Ridge office of FPCA have always been professional, courteous, and caring. As Doctor's go, he is a great communicator and has a down to earth way about him - he takes whatever time is needed to answer questions and explain things. I highly recommend him.
Great doctor and nice to talk with.

I was a patient of Doctor Amerena for at least 8 years, and one of my visits I forgot to pay a $30 co-pay. The Doctor/Practice discharge me from their care even after paying the $30.00 co-pay. They stated that I have not seen the doctor in a while and Doctor Amerena no longer wants to see you… What a horrible doctor, when I need him the most he turns me away.
Amerena himself is a great doctor, from the one time I got a chance to visit with him. His office is run like a shitshow, however. I picked a male doctor (by name) because I felt more comfortable talking about my problems with another guy. I made 3 other appointments after the first, and in every case, they baited and switched me with a woman. Whatever, in those other cases, it wasn't a hugely personal (READ: had to do with my genitals) issue. In my most recent visit, they didn't even give me a doctor. They gave me a nurse who interrupted me 3 times in the first 2 minutes while attempting to explain my (this time very personal, and very urgent) issue. The third interruption she actually interrupted me to ask me something I was answering in the sentence she interrupted. The whole time making either confused or disgusted faces while I tried to fight through her barrage of interruptions. If you do decide to use this doctor (and again, the doctor himself is good in my single experience out of 4 tries) make sure they know you're interested in seeing him and not one of his lackies. They lack, indeed.
Been my doc for a looooong time. Military veteran and all around good guy and great physician.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
