List of Rishi R. Gupta's Reviews
After moving back to Frederick after 11 years away, I needed to find anew orthopedic surgeon to follow my hip deterioration. I selected Dr Gupta based on reviews and word of mouth recommendations. He is wonderful! Very patient and kind and a great sense of humor. He followed my hip for about a year before we decided to schedule a full replacement which was done two weeks ago. I’ve had no hip pain and did not need the opiates prescribed but managed with ibuprofen and acetaminophen. His rehabilitation team and RN came to my apartment for two and a half weeks and were so helpful. I just had my first post op appointment where he removed the staples (didn’t hurt at all) and went over what I should and shouldn’t do. Icing recommend him enough.
I had a very positive experience with Dr Gupta. I had very successful back to back hip replacements. I found him to be very compassionate and truly caring about me as his patient. He even gave me his cellphone number to call him if I had any concerns. I did need to call him and he called me back within 45 minutes. My therapist also had an excellent opinion of him.
I had suffered miserably not being able to get the necessary surgery in a timely manner due to the COVID-19 pandemic being unfortunate to be repeatedly bumped from the surgery list due to a series of blunders which caused undue delays and other "bizarrities" here in Frederick, MD. Doctor Gupta had after all of this waiting decided and for apparently no good reason abruptly dropped me as a patient by sending me a certified letter saying that he no longer wanted to be my surgeon do to some fanciful reason having to do with my having violated "patient doctor" confidentiality which was never explicitly explained to me and for which I am thankful that he sent me this letter because it reflects everything that I had sensed about this doctor over the last year from my previous medical appointments which was that he was uncaring and very shallow. Sometimes God moves in mysterious ways, and I must say that this was the case with Dr. Gupta, God steered me toward a much better and caring doctor.
Dr. Gupta replaced my hip two years ago. He was helpful, responsive, and caring. He helped me to walk again.
I was referred to Dr Gupta by some friends at Church. I had a history of arthritis in my hips and had tried NSAIDs and Physical Therapy. After explaining my condition, Dr Gupta recommended an anterior approach replacement. The overall experience was superb. I have walked more post-op than I did in the year prior. I was walking 2 miles at two weeks post-op without a walker or a cane. My experience was so good that I sent my wife to him. She is prepping for her replacement now. Dr Gupta and his staff are wonderful!
I had an appointment for my sons with Dr. Gupta after our previous gastroenterologist retired and Dr. Gupta took over his patients. I was SO disappointed. Upon entering the room with two students (who he didn't even introduce) he proceeded to ask very few questions before telling me we need to change my son's feeding protocol and medications. When I questioned the need to change everything at once he proceeded to tell me his credentials "I've studied at X,Y,Z" I assured him that I wasn't questioning his credentials, but changing everything at once would make it difficult to measure the impact of individual changes on my nonverbal son. His bedside manner was terrible. If you're looking for a physician that you can ask questions to, he's not your person. He is only interested in his own opinion and clearly believes that he has figured it all out. I'm so disappointed. We had high hopes, but ended up feeling unheard and frankly spoken down to in a condesending tone. It's my job as a parent to advocate and question, so that when I leave the appointment I understand why we're doing something and what I need to do to help the plan be successful. Dr. Gupta made it clear that he doesn't need to explain anything to anyone. I should just be a blind follower.
I visited Dr. Gupta after our gastroenterologist retired and he took over the patients. I was SO disappointed. He asked very few questions before telling me that we needed to change my son's medications and feeding protocol. When I questioned changing so many things at once, he proceeded to read off his credentials. I assured him that I wasn't questioning his credentials, but why we would change anything at once he got defensive as though I have absolutely no right to question a doctor. He has a poor bedside manner and ultimately thinks that he has all the answers. If you are used to having a discussion with your physician about recommendations stay away. He clearly doesn't want anyone's opinion/insight but his own.
Best Doctor anyone could ever ask for!
Dr. Gupta was uncaring and his bedside manner was something his missed in medical school.
This is a doctor.that really listens and then explains things very clearly! My surgery went so smoothly!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
