Alok Kumar's Online Review Report Card

When we first learned that the 23 years old child in our family has died by suicide, a few days after he completed the TMS Therapy in Dr.Alok Kumar's office, we cannot stop thinking about what had happened. The boy's mother contacted the doctor's office. Her boy was not coming back from his university this time, the doctor was the last person shared her son's thoughts. The mother wanted to know the circumstances of her son's death. Dr.Alok Kumar's office response: "We don't have record that he is our patient". The mother later proved her son was a patient. The office response: "You need to contact the coroner's office". The mother did. Of course, the medical examiner didn't have information. The office response: "you need to contact the billing department". The desperate mother did. Of course she got nothing. Why sending a broken mother on a wild-goose chase? Dr.Alok Kumar, you are the mental health expert, you tell your stuff, what Caring & Compassion mean.

Dr. Alok Kumar was unprofessional and could not answer my basic questions regarding my treatment plan. The front desk staff at Greenbrook were efficient and resourceful; however, Dr. Kumor does not bring any compassion or patience when treating patients. Dr. Alok Kumar was unprofessional and could not answer my basic questions regarding my treatment plan. The front desk staff at Greenbrook were efficient and resourceful; however, Dr. Kumor does not bring any compassion or patience when treating patients. I typically don't post reviews, but I was shocked that someone so poorly qualified could be interacting with so many patients. If you're able to, visit an alternative location. If you must recieve treatment at Fairfax, have a 10-30 minute discussion with the doctor so you're able to assess whether you'd like to be treated by him. If it were up to me, I would ban Dr. Kumar from practicing medicine entirely.

I've seen Dr. Kumar for a few years now and I would probably switch if I were logistically able to. He has sent medications I don't need refilled to the pharmacy while neglecting to send medications I do need. The office always fixes it, it's just another headache I don't need. He spends less than 5 minutes with me. I timed my last telehealth appointment; it was 3:16. Most of the time he just asks how I am and when I don't know how to explain myself well or I'm too anxious to speak up, he just says we should stay the course and he'll see me next time. He is knowledgeable, however, and I have improved since seeing him. It's just really hard to feel like you're getting good care in such a short visit. The office staff is really hit or miss. Sometimes they will go all-out for you and sometimes they don't seem to care to do anything. The mirrored glass in the lobby is really dehumanizing as well. I haven't been in any other doctors' office that has that, mental health or otherwise.

I also see Dr. Kumar as a very good psychiatrist. My review of the office staff is mixed. Some are courteous and polite and efficient. Others, not so much. I have a HUGE problem with the one-way glass separating the "sick" people from the well. It is stigmatizing. I have not seen another office set up this way since the 1980s. The office recently relocated to a larger space in the same building, but the glass remains. Why?

Overall Dr. Kumar is a very good Dr. He does his job efficiently and is friendly.

he is very smart and knowledgeable, doesn't push drugs, caring. Office staff are polite, not rushed.

Dr. Kumar and every staff member I have worked with have been extremely responsive and helpful. I have never felt like I had to wait for help and have never felt unheard. I receive multiple services from this office and its been a life changer.
