terrible practice limited availability and CNP uses frequent appointments for money rather than quality of practice
Writing this very frustrated with ABH. My therapist was 30mins late to first appointment. Made the second one from his car at his son's football game bc he forgot about scheduling appointment. 4th appointment was cancelled maybe an hour before our scheduled time. And today another no show. I was very clear about wanting a regular time slot weekly that was never received, always a different time and different day. I was seeking help with anxiety, stresses and concerns about career choices and money. I feel like I spent hundreds of dollars that I didn't want to spend in an attempt to prioritize my mental health; it is taking advantage of people in crisis. I feel robbed and am ultimately more anxious and frustrated with my choices. The opposite of why I saught out ABH. I will be looking elsewhere.
We have had nothing but positive experiences with Sam Bolin, Richard Haber and Cynthia Glover-Singleton over the years. Very professional and thorough interactions and care. The office support staff is always responsive and has helped me sort out billing issues promptly. This practice is able to offer appointments fairly quickly and has the option of telehealth, which is always nice with busy schedules. ABHSM has always been there for our family when we've needed it the most!
It pains me to write this review because up until my recent interactions I had nothing but positive experiences. This place turned out to be a nightmare. If you value your stability, keep far, far away I received wonderful treatment originally with David Blackburn and David Mgawi, and later Pat Reuppert and Cynthia Glover-Singleton. The original receptionist, Ann, is the ultimate professional. All were phenomenal. Sadly that came to an end with the arrival of the new receptionist, Teresa Burkitt. Several days after my appointment, Ms Cynthia Glover-Singleton called in a new medication to my pharmacy. Ms Cynthia never discussed this new medication with me. I tried to ask the pharmacy about this new medicine but was told to call my doctor which I did. The call was answered by Teresa who acted like I was disturbing her. She told me Ms Cynthia was with a patient and she’d give her my message. When I didn’t hear back I called again. I hoped to have my questions answered before the new medication arrived and ABHS closed for the Labor Day weekend. Again, Teresa said Ms Cynthia was with a patient and she would call me when she was finished. Again, my call was not returned. Desperate for an answer to my question before the Labor Day weekend I called again. Teresa made it absolutely clear. I was NOT to call again. Ms Cynthia would call me. So I waited. And waited. I waited for 6 days. Having been without medication for 6 days, unable to sleep, expecting a phone call that never came, and, despite being told not to call back, I relented. I called and spoke to the lovely Ann who informed me that prescribers don’t answer questions over the phone. I’d wasted 6 days waiting for a call that was never going to come because, she said, it was against policy. I’d have to make an appointment and pay to ask a question about the new medication. I turned to Google for guidance but it was a rabbit hole of contradictory information.. I decided not to take the new medication. It wasn’t worth the risk. I called back and tried to ascertain what the policy actually is. Will I have to pay to ask a question about a new medication I was not familiar with, had not asked for, and about which I’d not been given an opportunity to ask questions? How much does a question cost? I’d never encountered this situation before. I called back and asked the new receptionist, Teresa Burkitt, about the policy. She yelled “I GAVE HER YOUR MESSAGE I DON’T KNOW WHY SHE DIDN’T CALL YOU BACK IT'S NOT MY FAULT!”, and hung up. It was really disturbing to me to be yelled at and hung up on for no reason. Despite bringing this to the attention of multiple people I was treated as if I was wrong for reporting it. I felt really shaken up. I decided to take a break from the practice for a couple of weeks to calm down and put other financial matters first. I felt terrible. Why would I pay to feel terrible? My therapist, Pat Reuppert, told me to contact her directly on her direct text line which I did. She did not respond. After 6 days I texted again. And again. And again. I never received any acknowledgement or reply. Then out of the blue Pat Reuppert sent a dismissal of treatment notice because I had not contacted her. I told her I’d texted her multiple times to which she replied, “there is no evidence of that.” After providing evidence she changed her story saying she DID receive my texts but she didn’t think they were important. And just like that I was abandoned for not contacting Pat Reuppert even after she admitted that she did get my texts after all, she just didn’t think they were important. All because I complained about the new receptionist yelling and hanging up on me. Oh and since I was dismissed I’ve received a $200 bill even though initial payment and every copay was taken out of my bank account automatically by the original receptionist, Ann. Keep away.
I don't know what's going on with them right now, maybe understaffed, but they never follow up with you if your therapist/psychiatrist leaves or something and don't give out referrals. It's exhausting and it's medical abandonment. Have also received horrible and traumatic counseling from one of their therapists. Update: they’re not licensed by the state Behavioral Health Administration so you can’t even hold them accountable.
They are great
Worst psychiatrists ever. Both Dr. Haber and Dr. Mwangi had no idea how to care for me. Dr. Haber put me on medications despite claiming that nothing was wrong with me in his notes. He refused to diagnose me with anything, even though I was later diagnosed with no less than 3 disorders. Dr. Mwangi consistently ignored my complaints of my medications not working or causing unwanted side effects, and then put me through an abrupt withdrawal that almost ended my life. The front desk staff is amazing, though.
I’ve been with Dr Gehring for 12 years, long before this practice was established and my son has been with Sam for 4 years, shortly before it was established. You won’t find better, more caring, or more genuine people to work with. Reed has not only saved my life but has done everything in his power to work with me (and my mom when I was a teenager) whenever necessary. Sam has vastly improved the quality of my sons life and we wouldn’t be where we are without his help and he’s been equally as flexible in working with us any time a need or issue arises. The front office is always extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing bad whatsoever to say about ABHSM here And would recommend it to anyone ♥️

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
