List of David B.K. Golden's Reviews
Really smart and thoughtful physician. I trust him implicitly, and he does not push surgery unlike some others in this city.
Dr. Golden came recommended as one of the very best knee surgeon, but what impressed even more was his kind, friendly and constructive manner in which he treats his patients, him and his amazing staff made the whole operation experience as pleasant and positive as possible. A CLASS ACT !Rachel L. From Avila beach, ca.
Like the vast majority of reviews, I also must give the highest possible rating to Dr. Golden and his staff. I have had 5 appointments over 3 months including pre-op, fracture surgery, and post-op, travelled 2000+ miles in round-trips for the quality of care, and would happily do it again if needed. I have never spent more than 5 minutes in the reception area before being taken in for an exam, x-rays, treatment, cast change or cast removal. I have never been taken to an exam room only to wait again there; the tech, P.A. (I have seen both, and both are first-class) or Dr. has promptly come in within minutes every time. The tech who took x-rays was also doing training and his explanations, kindness and patience with both of us were extraordinary. Cheri and Ana in the front office are compassioate, efficient, highly professional, warm, responsive and thorough, truly without equal. Dr. Golden scheduled my actual surgery for my birthday two days after my 1st visit; having seen an orthopaedic surgeon in my home town I wouldn't let trim my dog's nails, he was determined to address my broken bones immediately (they had been treated poorly locally) before leaving for a conference the following week. I saw Dr. Golden on the advice of two highly satisfied former patients of his I have known for many years (Dr. Golden performed major reconstructive surgery and one who is back to crazy extreme sports with no issues, and advised physical therapy rather than surgery to the other who followed his recommendation and is fully functional/mobile at 70), I literally awoke from the surgery (several-inches incision and many stitches to attach a plate and many screws to several breaks) Without Pain and Without the Severe Nausea/vomiting that anaesthesia caused in previous (unrelated) surgeries. I have had zero pain during recovery with no medication (rx or over-the-counter) and minimal discomfort now during physical therapy. I cannot square my experience and the similar experiences described by the vast majority of Dr. Golden's patients who also describe the same exquisite care I've had with the couple complainants whose descriptions are the polar opposite of ours in every respect. Perhaps they saw someone else or misspelled something? (To the reviewer who complained about 'more money for another artwork for the office', a)you misspelled R-O-T-H-K-O and, um--those aren't Rothkos and b)my very popular not-extraordinary insurance covered everything but a very small amount FOR WHICH I WAS OFFERED SEVERAL EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE PAYMENT PLANS IN A ROUTINE FOLLOW-UP EMAIL FROM THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT EVEN ASKING so... hmmm. I am happy to have driven 400 miles round-trip to each of my appointments and would gladly drive twice that distance or more for the superior level of care, skill and experience. The kindness, support and immediate thorough responses to all my questions and concerns has just been icing on a completely superior cake. Lastly, I have had several surgeries in several other major cities across the US so I have been around a hospital bed a few times. While each of the surgeons was quite capable/technically skilled, the remainder of the overall experience was nowhere near as reasurring, successful and comforting as every visit to Dr. Golden and his surgical team at Cedars-Sinai as well as the entire staff of his nearby office has been. How often can you say you will miss your medical team when you are fully recovered and dimissed???
Dr. Golden and his staff are the best. Every visit, ever call has been handles with the utmost professionalism and warmth all rolled in together. I had to call several times for post op instructions for clarity and Sherie was always ready to handle even the most ridiculous of questions. Every time I apologized for my missing the information handed to me and asking her for instructions, she assured me that it was no problem and that's what she's here to do. My visits with Dr. Golden were not rushed and he treated me with respect in every conversation. My questions were answered clearly and precise followed by a question to me for additional understanding, if needed.I can't thank them enough for the respect they give me and for making me feel like I'm much more than a senior woman of color with an education. I trust this office to care for all my orthopedic needs.Thank you Dr. Golden and staff for all that you do and for making my surgical experience smooth. I will miss coming to your office now that I'm on to PT.
Everyone in this office is SUPER warm and still completely professional. Both trips to this office were stressful for me, as I had mapquest issues (along with brian lesions from my MS). Jennifer was SO helpful to me the first time, when I missed the appointment entirely and she got me in when I was able to arrive. For the second visit, Sherry was AWESOME when she patiently encouraged me, while giving me directons (for about TWENTY minutes!!) Who does that?I was greeted with tons of smiles and encouragement both visits, and appreciated the confidence I had (especially in Dr. Golden).2 thumbs up!!
Updated review: although everything I said previously is true. But I love the employees there and the time I have to wait is always very minimal. So overall I am happy going there. I’m currently being seen by this office for my allergy shots. And I already had a couple of issues with them. The first thing they messed up my name on my shot and I had to wait until they figured it out that my last and first name was input backward. And then they canceled their allergy shot hours with no warnings and no announcement on their website. They were all in the office looking at me at the door but no reactions as to why and when the hours were canceled. I had to call and inquire and have to redo my shot just because of that. Very inconvenient for a full-time student who wants to stay consistent with her shots. It’s also a hassle to change allergist since you have to get the skin test every time.
Wonderful Doctor. Identified the problem, treated and I got immediate relief. He has great bedside manor and the staff could not have been more professional or nicer. If you have ANY orthopedic issues, this is the doctor and office for you.
I went to Dr. Golden a few years after I had painful issues resulting from a full knee replacement performed by a different surgeon. Dr. Golden was extremely thorough in his assessment of my knee, and discussed with me in layman's terms what the problem was. Eventually he performed minor surgery to clear out scar tissue from my original surgery. I have had no recurring issues since. When I wanted to rant about how my previous surgeon might have prevented the scar tissue, Dr. Golden patiently explained that the knee replacement had bee done extremely well, and that scar tissue just sometimes can't be helped. My other knee is now dangerously creaky. I will not hesitate to have Dr. Golden do the replacement work. I too felt that his scheduler Cheri is the best.
My left hip replacement surgery experience was awful. After multiple return visit to his office complaining of discomfort and lack of mobility. I was referred to his associates I also consulted other Dr's outside of his Association who also didn't find anything wrong with the xray and apparatus which was giving me such pain, until I found one Doctor Who figured out what the problem was. The apparatus was put in incorrectly there for throwing my spine off by about a quarter of an inch leading to constant pain and virtual in Mobility. I've since had a revision of the left and complete replacement of the right. Now I am completely mobile after a January 2019 procedure by Dr. Phil O. Merritt at Adventist Health.
Really poor bedside manner twice I've seen him the first time was horrible with a knee injury. Nine years later I see him again and he treats me like I'm an idiot. Arm shoulder injury. Checks my mobility the few ways and tells me I need PT. I said that's fine but I can't move my arm this way and I demonstrate. Then he tells me how often do you turn move your arm that way. I'm shocked. I'm 58 years old I need full mobility of my arm what a jerk. I told him it hurts all the way down my arm and he said that's not possible. I didn't want to see him but I thought maybe he was having a bad day first time. Never again.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
